In our home, you'll rarely find a dirty dish in the sink. As soon as we're done with a dish, it's rinsed and placed inside the dishwasher. Dirty dishes piled in a sink is one of my husband's pet peeves, and over the years it's become one of mine.
I've read multiple articles about how you're not supposed to pre-rinse your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. I realize that it may be completely unnecessary and a waste of water, but it's a hard habit to break. Our dishwasher is at least 12 years old and it's seen better days. It works (just well enough), but I don't fully trust it to clean dishes with caked on grease or food. Especially since our pre-rinsed dishes often come out of the dishwasher with hard water spots and food particles dried on them, despite using a
"top of the line
" detergent. I have to wonder why I've been spending so much money on a premium brand of dishwasher detergent that just isn't working for us.
When I received
Cascade Platinum Pacs for review, I really wanted to put them to the test. The other night we had Mexican for dinner and I mentioned to my husband that I wasn't going to pre-rinse the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. His response?
"Why would you do that?
" I explained that I needed to really test these dishwasher pacs and he agreed. Of course he added, "As long as I'm not the one re-washing the dishes later."
After reading the packaging, I couldn't help to be optimistic about the performance of the Cascade Platinum Pacs. Per Cascade, these powerful pacs will deliver a top-tier clean so powerful that they'll even help to keep your dishwasher itself pristine. The Platinum Pacs contain the grease fighting power of Dawn and will power away tough, 24 hour stuck-on food while delivering exceptional shine. Best of all, they will eliminate the need to pre-wash your dishes!
Too good to be true? We'll find out.
Against all of my instincts, I simply placed our post-Mexican plates in the dishwasher without pre-rinsing them. I let them sit for a full day before I took these photos. This is where I started getting skeptical. I just wasn't sure this dried mess would rinse away. I put my Cascade Platinum Pac in the dispenser and hoped for the best.
So, how did they work? FANTASTIC! I almost couldn't believe the Cascade Platinum Pacs worked so well! My dishes were sparkling clean and my dishwasher looked better than it had in years!
I am beyond impressed with the performance of the Cascade Platinum Pacs! I think we can finally say goodbye to pre-rinsing our dishes! I'll definitely be purchasing the Cascade Platinum Pacs in the future!
Another benefit of the Cascade Platinum Pacs is that since our dishes are SUPER clean, it makes the meals we make look better too! I definitely feel confident taking photos of our food on our sparkling dishes thanks to Cascade Platinum Pacs.
Top Chef judge and editor of Food+Wine magazine, Gail Simmons knows that people eat with their eyes first, and has partnered with Cascade to discuss why food presentation is so important. From the initial prep to plating, eating is so much more than just having a great-tasting meal. Presentation is key, and a huge part of presentation is having spot-free glasses, shining flatware, and perfectly clean plates.
Gail recommends impressing with a Platinum Presentation: “The easiest recipes pop with unexpected, gourmet presentations. Drizzle bright sauces on sparkling white plates or layer desserts in crystal-clean glassware. Keep your presentation sparkling with Cascade Platinum, which keeps dishes perfect for anytime entertaining and impromptu guests.”
Don't you think it's important to have super clean dishes?
Would a supply of Cascade Platinum Pacs AND a new dishwasher from KitchenAid help?
I thought so!
