Our 'baby' just turned two which is just crazy! He's a HUGE fan of the movie Trolls - his favorite part is dancing to all the fun music. I knew I wanted to give him a big birthday bash (I LOVE throwing parties!) so I thought Trolls would be a fun theme. I've partnered with Oriental Trading to share our Trolls birthday party ideas with you!
Trolls Birthday Party Ideas
As soon as I decided on a Trolls theme, my mind jumped to rainbow EVERYTHING. I knew we'd need lots of brightly colored balloons to decorate the house. Oriental Trading has always been my first stop for party decorations because they're super affordable and have FAST shipping. I picked out their 144-Piece multicolored balloon set to kick off our decorations.
I LOVE how this balloon frame came out, and we didn't stop the rainbow decorations there. We added a giant rainbow made of multicolored tablecloths and white balloons as a photo backdrop. Oriental Trading's tablecloths are so affordable so this was a cheap but eye-catching decoration.
Of course, we needed some authentic Trolls decorations, and I love paper crafting. I free-handed the flowers from the Trolls movie and we taped them to the wall along with some printed characters from the movie. The kids loved checking these out and moving them around!
Our last decoration was, of course, Cloud Guy. Who could forget this iconic (and semi-creepy!) character?! I thought he'd be the perfect Vanna White, so up he went on the food table! He was super easy to make, too. We just glued cotton balls onto a piece of white poster board and then cut him out. We added arms, legs, and a mouth out of paper, googly eyes, and a pair of my son's socks to finish him off. Side note: these pleated tablecloth skirts are a great way to hide any stuff you need to store under a table! Plus they make the decor look so much more finished.
Trolls Birthday Party Food Ideas
We tried to keep it simple with the food for this Trolls birthday party. I tried to make it colorful with various fruits and veggies and with rainbow plates and napkins from Oriental Trading. I did have fun designing some personalized water bottles which I haven't done before. It was so easy to print them from the computer and tape them to the bottles.
Of course, we needed some rainbow treats to go along with our Trolls party, so I bought these glass containers at the dollar stores and filled them with Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, and (slightly healthier) multi-colored Goldfish crackers.
Of course, we can't forget the cake! We ordered this colorful Trolls-themed cake from our local grocery store and it was a big hit. The colors were super vibrant and (of course) it tasted delicious, too!
Trolls Birthday Party Favors
It wouldn't be a birthday party without some fun favors for the kids to bring home! I've always wanted to make Trolls headbands and I finally had my chance. They were fairly simple (tutorial here!) and I was able to find a great variety of tulle colors from Oriental Trading. I think they turned out adorable and we got a photo of all the kids wearing them at the party!
We had quite a bit of leftover tulle after making twelve headbands, so I decided to use some to make mini troll heads with suckers. I covered a floral Styrofoam block with green paper and stuck the suckers in so it looked like a little Trolls garden. My brother joked that maybe we were having a Bergen party since we were eating all kinds of Trolls treats!
I also put together little bags with cotton candy in them and created printable labels that say "Troll Hair". Maybe my brother wasn't wrong! But cotton candy is always a big hit 😉
The kids and I had a blast making Trolls glitter slime just before the party! We used Elmer's Glitter Glue Slime Recipe and it was really simple. Then we made some Trolls hairpieces and glued on googly eyes. Each child got to take home a jar of glitter slime after the party!
Trolls Birthday Party Craft
If you've seen Trolls, you know that every hour their little bracelets "ding" and that means HUG TIME! I grabbed the Fabulous Foam Bracelet Kit from Oriental Trading so the kids could make their own bracelets. The whole kit is less than $8 and you can make 24 bracelets, so it's a great deal. There are plenty of shapes, letters, and decorations so everyone can personalize their own foam jewelry.
All of the kids got a favor box with some special treats. We included Trolls harmonicas, organic fruit snacks, a glow stick, and a ring pop in ours. That left room for their bracelets, Troll hair, and glitter slime. I made little labels with each of the kids names for their boxes, too!
We had SUCH a blast at Lincoln's Trolls birthday party, and I haven't even taken down the balloon arch yet because it's just so cool looking!
Check out Oriental Trading if you're thinking of hosting a Trolls party! They have tons of Trolls products as well as everything you could need for any other party theme, too. They really have it all, from decor to food to favors, and at affordable prices, too!

I love this whole theme! how did you out the tulle together for the slime jars?
Amber says
Thank you!! I used the same method I would for the headbands, but I looped them on ribbon to tie around the neck of the jar. I used about 8 inch long pieces of tulle, folded it in half, looped the tulle around the ribbon, and put the loose ends through the loop. Gosh, it sounds so difficult when I write it out but it is pretty simple! Hopefully I can get around to making a video to show how to make them soon 🙂

What size jars did you use for the slime?

I used baby food jars! I think they're 4 oz or so?
