My little Star Wars fan begged for a Star Wars bedroom in our new home and I think I knocked it out of the park on this one. I bought the majority of the furniture from Pottery Barn Kids and the bedding from the Pottery Barn Kids Star Wars Collection.
When we were building our new house, I got so excited that I told my 6-year-old that he could pick any theme he wanted for his new room. He instantly replied that he wanted a Star Wars bedroom, and despite waiting months and months for the house to be complete, he never once wavered in his decision. That's pretty impressive for a 6-year-old! I started shopping for Star Wars bedding thinking I could probably find a cool set on Amazon, but nothing really caught my eye. That's when I turned to my friend Google who pointed me in the direction of Pottery Barn. Since I was decorating the rest of my house with , why not splurge on the bedding, right?!
Star Wars Bedroom Ideas
Pottery Barn Bunk Bed
The first thing he picked out for his room was a Pottery Barn Kids Belden . I chose a Full Over Full Belden Bunk Bed because I thought it would be nice to have that extra sleeping (rather than getting a ) in case we had company come by and needed to utilize his room. The bed is top notch! It's sturdy and feels super solid. I can't really comment on the bunk bed assembly since they offer White Glove Delivery and two gentlemen arrived with our delivery and put the bed together for us. Side note, the Belden Bunk Bed also comes in Simply White and Java brown.
Pottery Barn Kids Bedding
Pottery Barn Kids has a lot of different options in their Star Wars Collection of bedding, but my little guy really liked the best. I bought a full-size and . The detail on the quilt and shams is AMAZING. These items are such high quality and I can see why they cost a bit more than other brands. To match the set, I ordered . They're super soft and I'm glad I purchased them. I thought maybe they'd be scratchy like kids' sheets can often be, but these are nice and smooth.
I also bought these awesome , featuring the Millennium Falcon and R2-D2.
Here's a pro-tip for the parents out there if you're buying a bunk bed for just one child. You don't really need to make up the top bunk if you're just buying the bunk for guests. Just buy a set of matching sheets and leave the blankets and shams off. It's a PAIN to get up there and make the bed and most of the time the kids just play up there and throw the pillows and blankets off anyway. I bought a set of coordinating sheets and called it a day. I've bought a spare Navy and Grey down alternative comforter from Amazon that I can throw on the bed for guest.
Star Wars Rug
Once the bedding was done, it was time to shop for a Star Wars rug! I found the coolest Millennium Falcon Rug on Amazon. Not only is this rug out of this world (see what I did there?), it's big and it was a steal! In case you're wondering about those storage bins, they're from Ikea. They roll and they've got lids. They're magnificent.
Star Wars Wall Decor
To decorate his walls and go over his (this is the extra wide dresser with a total of nine drawers and I had a piece of glass cut to go on top of the dresser to protect our investment), I picked up these super cool Star Wars 3D Wooden Wall Decor pictures.
They feature the movie covers from the original trilogy and they have neat effect when you move from side to side. They really compliment his Star Wars bedroom nicely and I love the black frames.
On the wall above his and , I created some fun Star Wars decor. I picked up some unfinished 11" wooden letters from our local craft store and painted them using acrylic paint and a myriad of brushes. You can see my full post about those Star Wars letters for closer photos.
So, that's pretty much it for our Star Wars bedroom ideas. I'll be back soon with a look inside his custom closet to show you how we organize it. Be sure to check out the post about Star Wars school supplies that your little Star Wars junkie will love (it features the coolest Chewbacca toy I've ever seen!) and our DIY Star Wars letters.
Check out my dining room featuring the Pottery Barn Banks Dining Table and Buffet and more. You can also see my daughter's Pottery Barn Kids Bed and Dinsey Priness bedding.
