If you've got a little Star Wars fan on your hand, get ready to impress them with this easy Star Wars decor ideas. These Star Wars letters are so cool! I've partnered with Tub O' Towels to show you how to make them too!
My son is a huge Star Wars fan. In fact, when we moved into our new home, he begged us for a Star Wars bedroom. To help decorate his new room I decided to get my creative juices flowing and paint him some Star Wars letters to hang on his wall. I was going to have some custom made, but I thoughts, "Why couldn't I just do it myself?!" I already have a lot of acrylic paints and some brushes so I figured I'd give it a shot. Turns out, it was fun and easy!
To get started, you'll need to decide which characters you want to feature on your letters. I only had to choose four since my son's name is short. But, you can also just do one initial or even a Star Wars monogram. Once you pick your characters you can figure out which supplies you'll need. I went to my local craft store and picked up some 11-inch wooden letters. They cost around $3 or $4 each, but I used a coupon to get a better deal. I also picked up a new pack of brushes because I need some to be fine tip and some to paint larger surfaces. I already had a little collection of acrylic paints but I knew I'd need some additional colors based on the characters he wanted to display so I bought those too.
If you know me, you know I can be a little bit of a control freak. It's not that I don't trust other people to do something, it's just that there are certain things that I like to do myself, and crafting is one of them. That's why I was a little hesitant when my 6-year-old asked me if he could help make his Star Wars letters (CUE THE ANXIETY). Rather than embracing his self-expression with fun sensory activities, my mind goes to crooked lines and the mess! Oh, the mess he can make with paint.
Thankfully, Tub O' Towels had just sent me some of their 100% solution-soaked cleaning wipes. I knew they'd come in handy for this project! I let him start painting the solid color background for the letters and before I knew it we had a spill.
No problem! Not only did I have a piece of glass cut to cover my wooden kitchen table (pro-mom tip right there, folks!), I also had our Tub O' Towels close by. The quilted design offers cushioning and surface texture to offer more scrubbing power, but it's gentle on surfaces and your skin.
Super easy clean-up!
Our Tub O’ Towels Heavy Duty cleaning wipes also came in handy when it was time to clean his hands. Skin, surfaces, floors, strollers, car seats, walls... actually, there aren't many places where I'm not using Tub O' Towels wipes these days. I even carry a little stash of their single usages on-the-go packs in my car for sticky situations.
Once I let me little guy have a little fun, I settled in for the really detailed work. You can get as creative as you like here. If you've got legit painting skills you can give your Star Wars letters faces. Or, go in any creative direction you want. That's the beauty of this! My son wanted Darth Vader, R2-D2, Chewbacca, and C-3PO so that's what I set out to create.
Darth Vader Star Wars letter
C3-PO Star Wars letter
R2-D2 Star Wars letter
Chewbacca Star Wars letter
As you can see, they don't have to be perfect! They'll still be a super cute addition to your child's bedroom or your guy's man cave. You can check out my son's full Star Wars bedroom for even more inspiration.
