I just got back from a whirlwind trip to New York City to learn all about what's new and exciting at CVS for 2017. Let me tell you, there's a lot to report!
I've partnered with CVS for this post.
What's new at CVS in 2017
You might think about CVS as a place to pick up prescriptions or supplies when you're sick, but CVS is truly THE destination for health and wellness. CVS stopped selling tobacco products in 2014 to show their commitment to their customers' well-being. Since then, the brand has continued to evolve their efforts to bring healthier products to consumers. In 2017, you're going to see new store designs with an assortment of healthier food, health-focused products and an expanded selection of beauty products. There are also some new and exciting things happening at the MinuteClinic. I've got all the details!
CVS MinuteClinic
The MinuteClinic is a walk-in clinic at select CVS and Target locations that delivers convenient, quality, affordable health care, right in your neighborhood. They're staffed with family nurse practitioners and physician assistants and are open every day, evenings and weekends. They accept most insurance plans and no appointment is necessary (although they have an awesome feature where you can register ahead to hold your place in line). You might be familiar with some of the services that MinuteClinic provides, like vaccinations and treatment of common family illnesses and ailments, but there are some new services that might surprise you.
The MinuteClinic is now offering women's health services. You can visit the MinuteClinic for treatment of UTIs and yeast infections, birth control care and injections, HPV vaccines, and pregnancy evaluation. This is SO convenient when you can't get an appointment with your OB/GYN, or if you're like me and have two young children to tend to. Sometimes it's easier to wait until my husband gets off work so he can watch the kids, that way I can visit a health care professional by myself. My doctor doesn't offer evening appointments, but thankfully, the MinuteClinic does.
You can also visit the MinuteCline for skin care. Whether you're experiencing a horrible breakout or a sudden rash, you can stop by the MinuteClinic on your own time.
With even more wellness services, the MinuteClinic is also offering weight loss management services. In partnership with DASH for Health, the MinuteClinic Weight Loss Program (based on the popular DASH diet) is designed with the use of a trained practitioner to help develop an individualized plan, set realistic goals, keep patients on track and get them on a path to a healthier lifestyle.
Want to quit smoking? MinuteClinic offers the Start to Stop ® smoking cessation program. It's designed to help you successfully quit on your schedule. A trained practitioner will help develop a personalized plan, just for you, to help you set realistic goals and stay on track.
And, don't forget about summer travel! The MinuteClinic has you covered with travel health services. Grab your itinerary and head to the MinuteClinic for motion sickness prevention or for vaccinations for traveling abroad.
That's not all though. Be on the lookout for hearing and optical centers at certain locations soon. That's right, soon you'll be able to get hearing evaluation and treatments, optical checks and prescriptions and much, much more, all at CVS.
Healthier Food
CVS is going above and beyond to introduce more “better-for-you” food options in their stores, including 27 new items under their exclusive Gold Emblem Abound™ product line. As I mentioned earlier, say goodbye to trans fat in CVS brand foods. Healthier choices will now make up about 50 percent of all food options in the store. I just LOVE this. It can be so hard to find healthier options when you're on-the-go and CVS is making it so much easier.
Speaking of easy, this summer you'll notice shelf tags that highlight specific food types. Products that fit nutritional and dietary preferences including heart healthy, good source of protein, gluten-free, sugar-free, organic and non-GMO project verified, will be noted with special tags so you can make smarter choices faster than ever.
Health-focused products
CVS Pharmacy is vastly expanding its offerings throughout health with a broader selection of vitamins and supplements, including offerings from specialty brands like Irwin Naturals and New Chapter, as well as expanded nutrition products like Vega and Naturade protein powders and Navitas Organics Superfood Mix Ins. Assortments tied to emerging areas like connected health, sleep/mood and immunity are merchandised in “discovery zones” that offer holistic solutions and easy navigation through educational displays.
By the end of 2019, all parabens, phthalates and formaldehyde ingredients in products within the CVS Health, Beauty 360, Essence of Beauty, Promise Organic and Blade store brand product lines will be removed. I can't tell you how thrilled I am that they are removing these chemicals from their beauty and personal care lines!
New beauty products
I've been buying beauty products at CVS since I was a tween and my brother got his first part-time job there. I could not be more excited to hear about the expanded beauty selection they're leveraging this year. Their slogan "Beauty with Purpose" and it's a perfect fit!
CVS is introducing more and more on-trend beauty brands like Wunder2 and Tigi Cosmetics to their lineup, as well as adding products that have greater skin health benefits and more natural ingredients. A new “trend wall” is now in place at 2,000 stores to introduce new launches and niche brands.
Just recently, CVS decided to remove all sun care products that didn't have a minimum SPF protection of 15. They also expanded the selection of products with SPF 30/broad spectrum. They're serious about helping you keep your skin healthy this summer and beyond.

How make errand running easy with CVS Pay.

I have never used the CVS pharmacy app but it looks very convenient and helpful. I am going to check it out prior to my next visit.

The closest CVS is quite a distance from us, so we normally go to the drugstores closest to us. CVS looks to be going in the right direction for those interested in healthier lifestyles. We may have to start taking road trips or swing by the CVS when we are out & about in that area running errands. The MinuteClinic sounds wonderful! It can be hard getting in at different doctors these days with the upswing in population.
Deborah D says
There is no CVS near us at the moment. I hope one comes here soon because I love these new products that you have shown.

Yes, the Minute Clinic comes in handy. I remember going to one in Miami, FL because I so happened to have a sore throat and they only billed me like $10 bucks with my insurance I had, so that wasn't to to bad. I was happy it was well under $100.

I'd love to be able to use their MinuteClinic, there isn't one close enough to be practical. I've been giving them quite a bit of biz since they stopped selling tobacco products!
Lauren Jones says
Your CVS I think is alot bigger than mine so I'm hoping they get the same because I'm constantly waiting in a line.
Sandra Watts says
I don't even know where the nearest CVS is. Last I knew they closed around here. 🙁

I really wish I had a CVS locally to me!! They have so many great deals!! We have tons of Walgreens but I think our closest CVS is like 30 minutes, so super sad!!

I have the CVS app and have saved more money since using it! And I have received more extra rewards bucks! CVS seems to have everything! I am so glad that I don't use beauty products! Not only do I save money, but I guess I am looking out for my health too.
Formaldehyde?? Really?? I'm not dead yet and I don't think health care store should be selling stuff like this! Good call CVS that harmful products will be gone out of the store by 2019!

We have a CVS nearby and always go to the Minute Clinic for annual flu shots. It's very convenient!
