Our daughter just turned four and we celebrated with a Moana themed birthday party! It was so much fun, and I especially enjoyed planning the food. One of my favorite Moana party ideas are the Heart of Te Fiti pinwheels. They're super cheap to make and they look awesome!
Moana Party Ideas: Heart of Te Fiti Pinwheels
I first learned of the recipe for these marshmallow pinwheels when a friend made them for a summer get together. They came to mind again as I was planning food for our Moana party, because they reminded me of the Heart of Te Fiti.
You only need two ingredients plus water for this recipe, and you can make multiple batches with one bag of mini marshmallows!
These pinwheels don't require any cooking, but you do need to microwave the ingredients to get the Jell-O to set up.
Heart of Te Fiti Pinwheel Recipe:
1 pkg. green Jell-O
1 ½ cups mini marshmallows
½ cup warm water
Directions:
*Mix Jell-O package with water in microwave safe bowl
*Microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds
*Pour marshmallows in bowl
*Microwave 1 minute
*Stir until marshmallows are melted
*Pour into greased 8x8 pan
*Cool in refrigerator for 45 minutes or until set
*Roll up and cut about ½ inch thick slices
One thing I learned is that you just want to mix the marshmallows in until they're melted, but not longer. The more you mix them, the less they'll separate from the Jell-O layer. You want the separation, so mixing as little as possible is ideal.
Once they're rolled and cut, they look awesome! The pinwheels are tasty and quick to make, so you can do multiple batches without a lot of time or money spent.
