It's almost time for the Easter Bunny to hop over to your house and if you're looking for Easter basket ideas for toddlers then you've come to the right place!
I’ve teamed up with Ashley over at Spit Up is the New Black for this post.
She'll be sharing her ideas for a toddler girl's Easter Basket.
I remember waking up on Easter morning SO excited to go on the hunt for my Easter basket. The Easter Bunny was a pro at hiding our baskets in clever spots and I just loved tearing through the house in anticipation of all the wonderful treats I'd find in my basket. Now that I'm a mom I want to make sure my little guy has that same sense of excitement. I know that holidays aren't all about merchandising and presents, but I do think that gifts are a good way to get them interested in the holiday so I can then start laying the foundation for the reason behind the celebrations. Since my little guy is just a toddler, it's a bit more of a challenge to to grab his attention and I can't simply fill his basket with candy, but I do want to make sure we start these traditions early. So, here are some fun Easter basket ideas for toddlers that hopefully you can use too! I was able to grab most of these items at the dollar store or Target, but I'll also include some Amazon affiliate links in case you prefer to do your shopping online.
Easter Basket Ideas for Toddlers
- Bubble Wand - I picked this up in the $1 section at Target. My little guy loves Bubbles right now!
- Bubble Guppies Bubble Whistle - This is for ages 3 and up, but I am trying to teach my toddler how to "blow out"so we can work on swimming this summer, so I figured this was a good buy.
- Wooden Puzzle - These are a big hit in our house and I was excited to find this one to start gearing up for alphabet learning.
- Teensy Fruits by Plum Organics - These little fruit snacks are delicious and organic. Plus, they're perfectly sized for little hands and don't pose a choking hazard.
- Peter Pan DVD - I found this at Target for $10.99 and we haven't seen it yet so I figured it was a good buy. You could also scout out the $5 bins at your local stores (or even the dollar store) for other cartoons DVDs, or just sub in the latest Disney Classic DVD that you don't have yet.
- Yogurt Dippers by Plum Organics - Another little treat that's somewhat better than offering candy.
- Little People - My toddler loves Little People and I found a little set for $3.99 that included a figure and a horse so I snatched it up.
- Easter themed Board Book - Only cost $1 and I can encourage reading, enough said.
- Crayola Sidewalk Chalk - Another $1 steal at Target. Perfect for our driveway or the splash pad.
- Gerber Organic Yogurt Melts - These are also yummy and organic.
- Crayola Washable Markers - We're working on drawing/coloring and the washable feature of these markers is definitely appealing.
- Play-Doh - I loved Play-Doh as a kid and haven't had time to whip up my own so I figured I'd see if he likes it before I do. It's great for creativity and pretend play too.
You may notice that I didn't choose a traditional "Easter Basket" with a handle and grass. I like to repurpose things so this clearance rope basket ($5.98) at Target seemed like a better alternative than an overpriced basket that we'd only use once a year.
Since your toddler is likely too young to understand the whole concept of Easter and Easter baskets, this can be a good time to get them things that they may need anyways (like snacks) but still present them in a fun and colorful way. Usually they like the packaging more than the "stuff" anyway, right?
Here are a few other Easter basket ideas for toddlers you might try:
- Reusable pouches. I reviewed Squooshi pouches in the past and we use them everyday. You can get a 4-pack of large (4.5 ounce) pouches on Amazon for only $14.99. These will save you a ton of money in the long run. We use them for yogurt and smoothies, plus they're fun and encourage independent feeding.
- Fingerpaint. We have these Crayola Washable Fingerpaints and love them. They really are washable and it makes clean up from tender little skin a breeze.
- My Big Animal Book (My Big Board Books) - I'm specifically mentioning this board book because it's my little guy's absolute favorite. In fact, it's seen better days so I'm ordering a new one (plus it's usually only about $5 on Amazon right now!). It's perfect for learning animals and teaching them the sounds they make. It's a BIG winner in my book. Check out our Best Board Books for Babies and Toddlers to see our other favorites - they're all pretty cheap too!

I totally need to add a bubble wand to my daughter's basket - good thinking! I can't believe you found one for just $1 at Target. And I love the "basket." I (I mean, the Easter Bunny), need to hit up Target one more time before next Sunday.

Great ideas! I am going to fill a sand bucket up with toddler snack like the Gerber Graduates, bubbles, a sippy cup, and a cloth diaper for my 9 month old grand daughter.
