Classic Pin Up Girl Hair Tutorial!

Want to go retro? We've partnered with Mirum Shopper to show you how to get that pin up girl look in no time. So, grab a fun scarf and get ready for this classic American pin up girl hair tutorial!

    Pin Up Girl Hair

Don't you just love those iconic photos of classic American pin up girls? I have to admit that I'm old fashioned at heart and wish the styles from the 1940's and 50's were still in style. Luckily, we can still create these looks, whether it be for a pin up girl Halloween costume, a high glam Flapper costume, or even as a fancy up-do for a special occasion. I'm going to show you how to achieve the look with products that are surprisingly affordable.

Did you  know that Kroger could be your one-stop shop for beauty supplies? It's true! Kroger has so much more than just groceries. Suave has teamed up with Kroger to help Americans celebrate beauty and they have a huge selection of shampoos, conditioners and styling products. They've got products for everyone in the family and for every look that you're going for.

How to Get Pin Up Girl Hair

    suave professionals luxe style infusion

The Suave Luxe Style Infusion products are the key to creating an iconic pin-up look. The weightless blow dry spray creates the volume you need from the start, before you even start styling.

    suave blow dry spray

I love using this weightless blow dry spray because it is activated with heat to give body to hair as it dries. It also leaves hair a little textured and ready for a hot iron, but you could also simply lightly brush afterwards for a natural look. The key is to brow dry up and away from your face after applying to damp hair from roots to ends.

    pin curls

Because I want very structured curls for this look, I like using a mini flat iron because I feel like I can control the curling more closely, especially on the ends. Begin by parting your hair into the sections that will become larger rolls. Within that section, curl small strands all in the same direction and pin in place for an hour or so to really let it cool and set.

    vintage pin curls

Let out the bobby pins and you've got some really fun and tight pin curls! Here's where I apply a light mist of the Luxe Style Infusion Plump Hold Hairspray. It helps to provide long-lasting hold, but it is also brushable so that you can form larger curls in the next step.

    suave volume hairspray

Now shake it all up a bit to loosen the curls. Gather a handful of the individual curls along the parts that you created earlier and combine them into one larger section that will make one roll. Form it into a large loop with your hand in the middle, letting the curls blend together and naturally roll into a tight roll.

    victory rolls

Pin each roll in place, gradually moving down and back until all of your hair has been incorporated into large loops.

The strands in the very back can be gathered together and pinned directly up. Spray everything again with the Luxe Style Infusion Plump Hold Hairspray.

Tie it up with a classic scarf or fabric headband and don't forget the red lipstick!

I love this look. I'm so boring with my hair, it goes up in a clip every single day. It would be great to be able to do something different like this
