The Minnesota Children's Museum just rolled out a brand new Wild Kratts Creature Power Exhibit in partnership with Chris and Martin Kratt! Check out all of the amazing features at this exhibit and get a discount code for your visit, too. I've partnered with the Minnesota Children's Museum to share our recent visit.
Every time we visit the Minnesota Children's Museum, we have an absolute blast. There are SO many different exhibits for kids, and we can easily spend the entire day there. To see the permanent exhibits you can check out five reasons you need to visit the museum! Right now I wanted to focus on the new Wild Kratts Creature Power Exhibit because it will only be at MCM until May 12, and you do NOT want to miss it.
Wild Kratts Creature Power: The Exhibit
If your kids are fans of Wild Kratts, they will LOVE exploring the four habitats including the tropical rainforest, the Antarctic, Australian outback desert, and your neighborhood. Our kids are avid watchers of the popular show so they couldn't wait to dig into everything! To be honest, I grew up watching the Kratts brothers on Zoboomafoo so even I enjoy learning about all the creatures on Wild Kratts.
When you enter the exhibit, you're immediately greeted with the Wild Kratts traveling lab, Tortuga. Kids can sit at the control station and can even dress up in Creature Power Suits. There are various stations for learning about different animals and habitats, that allow for unlimited learning.
Both of our kids loved pretending to control the Tortuga! Harper was saving this koala that had gotten separated from its family. It was so fun to see her imagination explode as she created this storyline. Open-ended play is my absolute favorite and the Minnesota Children's Museum is incredible at providing opportunities for kids.
There are a variety of large motor offerings at the Wild Kratts exhibit too! Our kids loved swinging like a spider monkey, climbing trees, testing their iceberg hops, and especially sliding like a penguin down the slide. This slide was set up in the Antarctic area and was an absolute blast. The kids would pretend to save various stuffed animals from around the exhibit, and would even pretend to be the animals themselves!
The fantastic neighborhood area included bugs, birds, and other animals that we find here in Minnesota. Some of them had buttons to explore the sounds they make, and there were informational plaques by them as well. We spent the entire last summer raising caterpillars up into butterflies, so the monarchs we of particular interest for Harper!
There was a giant frog with a sticky tongue that the kids loved, too. Two children worked as a team to launch stuffed bugs into the frog's mouth!
Harper found this sea lion and she made up another story line about it getting separated from it's mother. She used this Creature Jet Ski to bring the sea lion to the Tortuga. Then she nursed it back to health and returned it to the wild! She's almost six years old and for the past year she's been choosing a vet tech as her future profession. If she sticks with it, I'll know the Wild Kratts had something to do with her love for helping animals!
We plan to visit at least once more before this exhibit leaves on May 12th, because it's SO much fun! There was simply not enough time to explore everything there. While the exhibit did get busy later in the day, it was fairly quiet when the museum opened. In our experience, the end of the day is usually quieter also. And if you can visit during the week, even better!
If you want to save $2 per ticket or $20 off an annual membership, make sure you use the code AMBER at checkout! Let me know if you have any questions about the museum or any of the offered exhibits.
