Last weekend I partnered with Oriental Trading to throw our two-year-old a Trolls birthday party! I love coming up with favors for my kids' parties, and this time was no different. I want to share one of my favorite Trolls party favor ideas with you - GLITTER SLIME!
Both of my kids are obsessed with anything squishy and gross, so slime is right up their alley! After a failed attempt to make slime using Borax, we tried Elmer's Recipe for Glitter Slime, which worked like a charm.
Things you'll need:
Glitter glue
½ Tbsp. Baking soda
1 Tbsp. Contact solution
I had the baking soda and contact solution on hand (I've heard the BioTrue brand works great-I haven't personally used anything else). We ended up making six batches of glitter slime because I wanted to fill twelve baby food jars for our favors. The jars are 4 ounces, so you'll end up making about 8 ounces of slime per bottle of glitter glue.
How to Make Glitter Slime
Start by pouring your glitter glue into a bowl. Try to squeeze out every last drop so you maximize the amount of slime you're making!
Mix ½ Tbsp. baking soda with your glitter glue, and then add the contact solution. Start mixing with your hands and you'll feel the glitter glue start to firm up with the other ingredients.
Once it's all mixed, it's time to play!
In case you're wondering, my hands didn't shrink 😉 As soon as my daughter saw that the slime was mixed, she had to come over and play with it! It's much easier for me to take photos of her hands than my own anyway. After playing with the slime for a bit, we packed it away into our jars for the party.
Trolls Party Favor Ideas
We had to do something a little special for our glitter slime, so we decided to make them into little trolls! For the hair, I followed the same instructions I used for our Trolls headbands, but attached the tulle to ribbon. Then I tied the ribbon around the covers of the jars. Glue some googly eyes on, and you're all set!
I LOVE how these glitter slime trolls turned out-I think they're pretty cute! Our kids have been playing with their slime every day since the party, and I hope our guests are having just as much fun with theirs!
Have you ever made glitter slime?

Hi, how long does the slime last? I am
About three weeks from the date of our party. If I make them now would they last in their jars until then? Thank you!

So sorry for the delay in response! The slime gets harder the longer it sits. If you make it now, it will still be usable but it will be tougher feeling than if you do it right before the party. Hope that helps!
