Magnetic Tiles Kids will Love AND Learn From!

This post may contain affiliate links. Click here for more information.

With two young kids, I'm always on the lookout for toys that are not only fun but functional. We've all received those toys that serve no purpose but take up space. As you can guess, those aren't my favorite! With our son's birthday right around the corner, I wanted to find him an educational toy that both the kids could play with together. Luckily, we found magnetic tiles kids will love AND learn from! I've partnered with Magformers to share TileBlox with you.

    magnetic tiles kids

We love the Magformers brand and our kids constantly play with their first building set. I thought it would be fun to expand our Magformers collection with their TileBlox, which are magnetic tiles versus the open Magformers shapes.

    magnetic tiles kids

    Magnetic Tiles Kids Will Love

We picked out the 104 piece Rainbow set, so the kids would have a large variety of tiles to work with. This is the largest TileBlox set available but it still fits compactly into the box so it doesn't take up much space.

    magnetic tiles kids

As soon as we opened them, the kids dug right in and started building. With incredibly powerful magnets and brightly colored tiles, there is SO much fun to be had! While some toys with magnets concern me (because of the potential swallowing hazard) this is not the case with TileBlox. The magnets are securely contained in the BPA-free plastic and I'm not concerned at all that the magnets will come out.

    magnetic tiles kids

This TileBlox set comes with a step-by-step idea sheet and we started out building with these ideas. Of course, we had to make the llama first, because our kids are obsessed with llamas!

    magnetic tiles kids

As you can see, the magnets line up nicely, and they feel very sturdy too. While the llama can't stand up, it's still super cool! It's obvious the magnets are very strong, and while we don't have any in our house to compare them to, they seem to hold better than other brands we've tried at friends' houses.

    Learning While Playing

We used the idea booklet to make an incredible rocket, too! Seriously, how cool is this? And I love that our kids are learning math AND science concepts while playing. These magnetic tiles sparked a whole conversation on magnets and how they work, and we even delved into some geometry as we discussed all the different shapes we could make and why certain pieces fit together or didn't.

    magnetic tiles kids

While it's fun to use the idea book, it's almost more fun to just watch the kids build on their own. I'm always amazed by the creations their tiny hands can make.

    magnetic tiles kids

Another aspect of TileBlox that I love is the cooperation. It's hard to find toys that my kids will play with together. It's probably partly their ages, but there's just so much competition most of the time. However, they'll sit and build with TileBlox together for HOURS. Now, that's not to say there isn't some frustration when our son (intentionally) knocks over our daughter's projects, but that's another opportunity for learning, for both of them!

    magnetic tiles kids

We just think TileBlox are some of the coolest toys out there. Every family should have at least one set, and preferably a large set to maximize the building possibilities!

Be sure to check out our Magformers review too!

Disclosure: I received this TileBlox set at no cost to discuss to facilitate an honest review. As always, all opinions are my own.

I think my son would love to play with these! He's played with the original Magformers with the holes in the middle and they're a bit harder for him to build with, so I think this version would be perfect!

I love that they have a strong magnetic hold and all the different colors! I see a lot of awesome building ideas in my head. I know my grandkids’ wheels in their heads would be rolling out ideas just like mine! Oh the possibilities are endless! Plus at cleanup time, the pieces can be stored back in the box they come from. It’s a win - win all the way around! I like buying toys that my grandkids would actually play with and not stuff them under their beds!

Are the tileblox and the normal magformers compatible with each other? I like the magformer's windows and doors which tileblox doesn't have.

I'm honestly not sure! I think the magnets would work with each other but size-wise the TILEBLOX might be a little larger than the Magformers. You could always check with their customer service though!
