Does your family like to camp? While we don't get to camp as much as we'd really like to, we try to go as a family a few times throughout summer and fall. I've partnered with Coleman to share our brand new family tent and a free printable camping bucket list for kids!
Choosing a Tent: Why Coleman?
Over the years and as our family has grown, we've owned a few different tents but the brand we keep coming back to is Coleman. Not only are their tents high-quality and easy to set up, they're affordable even for a large family. In the past we've had four-person tents but as our kids are getting older (and bigger), we're realizing more space is better - especially when it comes to camping!
Our tent of choice is currently Coleman's Skydome 8-Person XL Tent in the Blue Nights colorway. Even though we have a four person family, when we camp we bring supplies and clothes that need to be stored in our tent along with enough space for all of us to sleep. This tent allows us to use about half of it for sleeping and the other half for storage!
My husband Tyler is a little picky when it comes to tent set-up so I usually just leave it to him and help out as needed! We were able to get the entire tent set up in just under twenty minutes, and I know it will go even faster next time because we'll have an idea of how it goes together. It was very simple though, and I love that all the poles are pre-attached to make it go up quickly.
The camping weather in Minnesota can vary so greatly that I wanted a tent that would keep us cool in 90°F weather but also keep us warm when it gets chilly overnight. This Skydome tent allows for so much ventilation, including a flap that can be opened in the back (with a screen, of course!). We were so comfortable and really appreciated the airflow as the kids snuggled up at night!
Inside the tent is very spacious and offers very handy water bottle holders - there are four on one end and four on the other, eight total. There are also pouches for holding your phone, wallet, or other small items on the long sides of the tent.
As you can see, even with four people's blankets, pillows, and sleeping bags, there was still space on this side of the tent! The other side of the tent kept our suitcases and coolers at night. We're a chaotic mess when we unpack and stay somewhere other than home, but we had plenty of room for our mess in this amazing tent!
Tent camping with kids is truly an underrated experience. It's amazing how well our kids do with the freedom of being outside, without screens, when they have to make their own fun! And my life is made so much easier with a tent that we can set up quickly, that holds all of our necessities, and makes for a comfortable night's sleep! I forgot to mention, this tent can hold up to three queen blow up mattresses, and we will definitely be investing in a couple - I used to be able to sleep on the ground without issue but not anymore, ha!
Since we have so much fun camping with our kids, we thought it would be fun to create a free, printable bucket list for your next camping trip! This will help kiddos who have a hard time entertaining themselves while you get your campsite set up. Simply click on the PDF below and then print it at home!
