Fall is my favorite for a lot of reasons, but football has to be one of the best things about this season. My college days were filled with SEC football games and tailgates. Now that I've got a family I prefer to watch the games from the comfort of my own home. And, what pairs best with a game day? Good snacks! Check out my fig jam pizza recipe to see my new favorite dinner!
When I'm "homegating," I love food that you can snack on. Snacking options like meat, cheese, fruit, and especially dips are favorites in my household. Sabra Dipping Company has been creating America's top-selling hummus since 1986. Their goal is to craft fresh-tasting and better-for-you food using simple ingredients that are above and beyond industry standards.
A classic snack
Sabra Classic Hummus is always a hit on game day, and every day really. It's a flavorful blend of chickpeas, garlic, and tahini. The texture is creamy and smooth and the taste will keep you dipping.
One thing I love about Sabra Classic Hummus is that it's so versatile. You can serve it as a dip along with your favorite foods or snack, or add it to a wrap to create a meal. It's vegetarian and vegan friendly, and it's also gluten-free, kosher, and non-GMO.
Sabra hummus comes in a variety of flavors and lately, I've been loving Sabra Supremely Spicy Hummus. They start with classic hummus and then add in a blend of chili peppers, red peppers, garlic, and spices. The combination of the classic hummus and spice makes for one craveable snack.
Another one of my favorite game day foods is pizza. But I don't settle for just any old pizza. I like to level up. And, that's where Roland Foods comes into play. They've got just what I need for the most delicious fig jam pizza!
Roland has been in business for over 85 years, importing specialty ingredients from around the world. Their products help elevate your home dining experience and I am here for it!
Fig jam pizza
I made the most delicious fig jam pizza Bianco, or fit jam white pizza. I'm totally obsessed with it now! I used two of Roland Food's premium products for this recipe.
A store-bought premade crust saves time, but you could certainly make your own dough or buy one. These personal-sized crusts are perfect for game-day appetizers. I used Roland Fig Jam as the "sauce" on the crust and the flavor is out of this world. The fresh, honeyed fig flavor is sweet and contrasts so amazingly well with the tartness of the goat cheese I used to create the white pizza.
Roland's Fig Jam is imported from Italy and contains just five simple ingredients and is 65% figs. This jam is dynamite on this pizza, but would also be great spread on toast for breakfast and alongside crackers and cheese on a charcuterie board.
How to make fig jam pizza
After I spread the Roland Fig Jam on the crust, I topped it with dollops of goat cheese and slices of prosciutto. I baked it at 425 degrees F for about 8 minutes or so.
While the pizza was cooking, I prepared the arugula for the top of the pizza. I simply dressed it with a bit of olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Once the pizza came out of the oven, I piled the arugula on top then drizzled a bit of Roland Organic Black Truffle Oil on top.
Roland Organic Black Truffle Oil is made of organic extra virgin olive oil infused with organic truffles sourced from a multi-generational truffle oil producer in the Italian region of Umbria. There are pieces of organic black summer truffles in every bottle and the unique flavor will add a level of sophistication to your favorite dishes. A little goes a long way and it added another amazing layer of flavor to this fig jam pizza Bianco.
Hot and spicy popcorn
Popcorn is a staple for movie nights and homegating days around here. My kids love the sweet, buttery flavors of ACT II, but I prefer a little heat. I couldn't wait to try their new Hot & Spicy microwave popcorn.
The fluffy, whole-grain kernels pop up with bright and bold red coloring with a spicy flavor that builds with each bite. This quick and convenient snack is exactly what you need if you're craving a savory and fiery snack.
Quick game day foods
Another great option when you're short on time but have a hankering for a hearty meal is a frozen meal from Banquet. They've got a delicious collection of classic dishes and their MEGA Meals have even more of what you love. This is perfect for those evening games when you've got a big appetite.
I tried a Banquet Country Fried Chicken MEGA Meal and there are a few different ways to prepare it. You can microwave it in just minutes, or if you've got extra time you can use a conventional oven. Each meal includes two country-fried white meat chicken patties with Southern gravy and bacon macaroni and cheese. This meal is packing 30 grams of protein and is sure to satisfy even the heartiest of appetites.
