This easy DIY teacher gift idea will be sure to brighten any teacher's day. It's low cost and the results are so pretty!

If your little one is heading off to school or just finishing up another school year, don't forget to bring his or her teacher a little gift or token to show them how much they're appreciated. Sure, we all love handmade gifts, but if you're busy like me, you want something that's EASY to DIY. Allow me to introduce you to the do-it-yourself Colored Pencil Vase. If you've got a little more budget to work with, you can also check out my back to school teacher gift jar; it's pretty awesome and it's got a free printable for you!

Supplies for your DIY teacher gift:

    • 1 glass vase (you can usually find them for just a few dollars at stores like Hobby Lobby, Dollar Tree, or Michaels)
    • 1 hot glue gun + glue
    • colored pencils - the amount will depend upon the size of your vase (41 were used for this project) - just make sure the vase is shorter than the pencils.
    • ribbon
    • faux flower (or anything else you'd like to use here)

    Teacher Gift

How to make a DIY rainbow vase:

Now, simply start gluing your colored pencils to the vase with a strip of hot glue at the bottom and towards the top. Small segments usually work best. Add pencils in a color pattern of your choosing. A simple rainbow was used here.

Once your pencils have surrounded the vase, you'll just attach a ribbon around the pencils with a few dabs of hot glue. A cute owl ribbon was used in this project to match the theme of the teacher's room. Then,  just attach a brightly colored flower to the seam where the two sides of the ribbon meet. If you don't want to use a flower you could get creative. You could hand paint the teacher's name on an ornament, or attach a small wooden letter or monogram (also sold at local craft stores). The ribbon and flower are also completely optional if you want a simpler look.

     Not so hard, right?!

Feel free to add a bouquet of flowers, or even fill the vase with some school supplies or treats for your favorite teacher!
