We are SO excited to head to Disney World next week, but we still haven't told our kids yet! We're going to give them a big DISNEY SURPRISE right before we leave. Over the past couple weeks, I've been buying things to add to these Disney surprise bags that we'll give them the day before we leave. They're filled with things the kids can use on the trip and afterward, and I'm hoping they'll be able to guess where we're going based on the items! In case you want to put together your own Disney surprise bags, I thought I'd share what we're giving our kids!
Disney Surprise Bags
Creating a bag full of fun Disney items was the first thing I thought of when we decided to surprise our kids with this trip. I figured we could fill them with items the kids would use on the flight (their first!) as well as use beyond that. These are the items we hope will keep them busy and get them excited to head to Disney World!
Disney Pajamas
Who doesn't love new pajamas? Our kids need some summer pajamas anyway, and since we're in frigid Minnesota weather right now, they need some for our trip to warm Florida too. Our daughter's favorite Disney princess is Elena of Avalor, so I grabbed her an adorable nightgown I know she's going to love. For our son, I snagged a PJ Masks Pajama Set because he LOVES Catboy! Plus, the pajamas have a cape-so fun!
Disney Magic Ink Books
If you haven't used these books before, you're missing out! Our kids absolutely love them, and I enjoy them too because they're mess-free. They're basically water markers and the colors appear on the pages as you use them! Finding Dory and Moana are both huge hits in our house, and there are TONS of options to choose from if your kids have other favorites.
Disney Sunglasses
Since we're heading down to Florida from chilly, wintery Minnesota, we're in need of new sunglasses. I picked out Elena of Avalor sunglasses for our daughter. I can't seem to find the same ones, but these are an adorable alternative! Our son got Batman sunglasses which I know he'll be excited about!
Travel Books
Sure, sure, these aren't Disney-related. We LOVE Usborne books, though, and I picked these up a few months ago in preparation for our trip. Both of our kids love sticker books and I know our daughter will enjoy this wipe-clean pack too.
Disney Stainless Steel Water Bottles
While we're at the Disney parks, we're going to focus on drinking lots of water. I've heard that you can get free water at counter-service restaurants, so we're planning to take full advantage of that. These water bottles have wide openings so ice will fit inside. Since they're stainless steel, they'll keep water cooler than plastic for our long days! We picked out one Disney princess bottle (Ariel and Belle!) and one Darth Vader bottle (HUGE Star Wars fans over here!). I grabbed the princess bottle at Target but can't find it anymore - here's a cute Frozen bottle that would be a good option also!
Disney Headphones
We're probably going to resort to letting the kids watch a movie on the iPad if they get antsy on the flight. We'll be waking them up hours before they usually rise to get to the airport. I'm sure we're just asking for a meltdown halfway to Florida, and there's no doubt the movies we've downloaded from Netflix will be utilized. To save other passengers from our kids' shows, I bought them each a pair of kids' headphones with volume limits safe for young ears. Of course, Elena of Avalor was the top choice for our daughter (and how CUTE is the tiara!?). I grabbed PJ Masks Headphones for our little guy, too.
Personalized Magic Bands
Magic Bands are a new thing since the last time I was at Disney World! They're going to come in so handy since they act as our tickets and keep track of our dinner reservations and Fast Pass+, too! I didn't want to spend $20+ on character bands but I thought the kids would really like it if their bands were personalized to their likes. I bought some stickers and tattoos and added a little love to their magic bands! Check out the full video tutorial here!
Mouse Ears
It wouldn't be a trip to Disney without mouse ears! While part of me wanted to buy authentic Disney ears, another part of me realized our kids are too young to care where they're from. I looked at Target and could spend $5.99 on a pair OR I could get a 12-pack on Amazon for just a hair over the price of two. Since we're traveling with my whole family, I thought it would be fun to buy a bunch so we can take a family picture of everyone with mouse ears! The 12-pack comes with 6 plain black pairs and 6 glittery pairs with bows!
