The Best Winter Boots for Kids - See Kai Run Boots

This post may contain affiliate links. Click here for more information.

I hate to say it, but winter is coming soon to Minnesota. Not to skip right over fall, but I can already feel the chill in the air that makes me take out our cold weather gear and assess what we need to buy. This year, we've got the best winter boots for kids so I've checked that off my list. I've partnered with See Kai Run to share some of their new boots.

    best winter boots for kids

Every year when the weather starts to get colder, I question why I live in Minnesota. Sure, it's nice to have some variety when it comes to the weather, but I could truly live without the frigid cold winters. I don't even need snow for Christmas (blasphemer, I know)! But, regardless of how I feel, winter is on its way. When I pulled out our cold weather gear from last year it was clear that the boots we had for our kids weren't going to cut it. Luckily, See Kai Run was able to outfit our kids in warm winter boots that have the perfect features for winter!

    See Kai Run Boots

My daughter picked out the Abby WP/IN Boots in Gray which was no surprise to me since she loves the color purple. Right out of the box you can tell these are high-quality boots.

Abby WP/IN Boots from See Kai Run

As a former daycare teacher and a mom of two, I really appreciate the hook-and-loop strap closure as opposed to laces. My daughter is able to easily put on her own boots and re-fasten them if they come undone while she's playing outdoors.

    best winter boots toddlers

The rubberized rand and toe cap are solid and will protect her tootsies from the elements. Plus, they make the structure of the boot very durable.

    best winter boots toddlers

The rubber outsoles have great traction and will be perfect for wet, sloppy weather. I'm sure we'll be playing outdoors a lot this winter and our driveway especially is prone to icing. These boots from See Kai Run will definitely help our daughter stay on her feet!

    best winter boots toddlers

We don't have any snow yet (THANK GOODNESS) but I'm glad that we will be prepared once the flakes start falling. The Abby WP/IN Boots are rated to -35° F and have a 3M Thinsulate™ thermal lining. I have no doubt that her feet will stay warm even in our coldest weather.

    best winter boots toddlers

We used the comprehensive sizing guide on See Kai Run's website to pick size 11.5 boots for our daugther, and also used the fit recommendation on the product page. Abby WP/IN boots run about half a size small, and the 11.5 is a perfect fit with warm socks!

    best winter boots toddlers

With the faux fur lining, these boots are just adorable. Plus, they're waterproof for up to four hours (and let's be honest, I don't like winter enough to be outside that long!) so I won't worry about her feet getting wet. We love these boots!

Charlie WP/IN Boots from See Kai Run

For our son, we chose the Charlie WP/IN style boots. This style is very similar to the Abby WP/IN style, and the boots are going to be perfect for our almost two year old.

    best winter boots toddlers

Last winter we didn't get outside much with the kids. Our son was just learning how to walk and the few times we did go outside, I ended up carrying him everywhere because it was too hard for him to move in his snowsuit and boots. You've got to feel for those little kids who are puffed up like marshmallows and expected to walk around in snow up to their waist! Needless to say, we'll be spending more time outdoors this winter since he can move around much easier now.

    best winter boots toddlers

We chose a size 8 for our little guy (he has big feet!) based on the sizing chart and the recommendation to round up from the fit section of the Charlie WP/IN Boots page. I know he will have great traction with these outsoles, and I can't wait to see him racing around in the snow.

    best winter boots toddlers

Like the Abby WP/IN style, the Charlie WP/IN Boots have the 3M Thinsulate™ thermal lining and are rated to -35°. I'm hoping we won't have the crazy, frigid temps this year on days when we have to leave the house, but I'm glad we're prepared. We always have at least a few awfully cold days throughout winter.

    best winter boots toddlers

Our little man had a blast running around the park in his new boots, so I have no doubt he'll keep up with his sister this winter. I'm hoping the snow will hold off for awhile, but I'm glad we're prepared for it when it does begin.

    best winter boots toddlers

Though he hasn't quite mastered putting boots on himself yet, our little guy has no problem opening the hook-and-loop closures to take his boots off. I'm sure in no time he'll be able to put them on, also. For now, at least he can open and close them himself!

    best winter boots toddlers

I love the variety of boot options from See Kai Run, and the color selections as well. We chose the Charlie WP/IN style in Navy because our son has a blue jacket. See Kai Run has TONS of boot options for boys and girls in so many different colors!

    best winter boots toddlers

We love our boots from See Kai Run, and I have to say a little part of me is looking forward to winter and watching my kids have fun in the snow. While I usually dread the cold and driving on slippery roads, at least we'll be able to get out of the house and play in our yard with our warm boots!

BUY IT: You can purchase See Kai Run boots from their website or Amazon. They also have TONS of shoe options, if you're lucky enough to live somewhere with mild winters!

Be sure to visit our other review of See Kai Run baby, toddler and children's shoes and our review of their fall/winter See Kai Run shoes.

Disclosure: I received these boots at no cost to facilitate an honest review. As always, all opinions are my own.

These are adorable but WAY more than I could afford! If I could afford them I'd want the Hallie WP's for my daughter or the Stevie II's for my son. ^_^
