Babymel was established in London in 2006 by Melanie Marshall and Suzi Bergman, the co-founders of Storksak. The first bag launched was the "Amanda," a chic and lightweight shoulder bag. From there the collection grew to include several beautiful bags, all of which include their patent pending strollerstrap. Babymel bags are modern, hip, and definitely fit for a princess! I was fortunate enough to receive their lovely Amanda Quilted bag in black for review.
The Amanda Quilted combines the super fashionable look of a cute, slouchy hobo with the functionality of a traditional diaper bag. The bag measures 13 inches x 17 inches x 6 inches. The outside of the bag is quilted in the Babymel original Heart design, giving it a gorgeous, high-end look. The front of the bag has a vertical strip of canvas topped with leather for a fun detail that separates the two front pockets. I really love these pockets! They're roomy and deep and I feel like my belongings are safe inside, even though there isn't a zipper closure. It's so nice to be able to just slip my hand in and grab what I need. These pockets also feature pleats to give the bag it's signature hobo shape, but they also make it so stylish! You can see that this bag has a long strap in the photos below. It's fully adjustable so you can wear the Amanda Quilted as a shoulder bag or a cross-body bag. Another great feature of the shoulder strap is it's width. It's wide so it distributes the weight of the bag more evenly to prevent shoulder fatigue and the strap digging in.
The back of the bag also features the beautiful pleating and has one long slip pocket with a magnetic closure. There is a leather tab on the back pocket with Babymel's signature B logo engraved onto silver-tone hardware.
There is a great zippered bottle pocket on the side of the bag that's fully insulated. The zipper has a leather pull, which is a very stylish detail. The main compartment of the bag also features a zipper closure with a matching leather zipper pull. My 8 ounce Dr. Brown's bottles are quite tall, but I was able to fit one inside the bottle pocket and fully zip it closed, although it was just a bit snug.
Let's talk about the inside of the bag. There is one zippered pocket and five elasticized interior pockets, perfect for holding bottles, food, toys, and the included changing pad. The base is built right into the bag itself, so no extra pieces to mess with or spaces for your items to get lost in. The lining is a neutral tan and is water resistant. This bag looks compact, but it's actually very roomy! I took photos of the Amanda Quilted packed for an afternoon outing with both cloth diapers and disposables so you could see a side by side comparison. Cloth diapers generally take up more room than disposables, but you can see that I had plenty of room for all of my essentials (diapers, wetbag, wipes, change of clothing, food, formula, toys, sippy, etc).
The Amanda Quilted also includes a padded changing mat that matches the interior of the bag. It's phthalate free and is also water resistant. The mat folds up compactly and has a hook and loop tab to keep it closed.
I mentioned earlier that the Amanda Quilted's strap is fully adjustable so you can choose to use it as a shoulder bag or a cross-body bag. The strap even has Babymel's patent pending strollerstrap, which securely attaches your bag to your stroller. I LOVE this feature. Usually, I end up just looping the large cross-body strap around the handle of the stroller to be hands free, especially when my stroller's basket is full. Although, that just doesn't seem very secure to me and I'm always afraid it's going to fall off or someone walking by may just swipe my bag. Thanks to the super strong hook & loop strollerstrap I have no worries that my bag is secure.
So, how would I sum up the Amanda Quilted? The quality is excellent and I love that it is made with easy to clean, waterproof material. It's roomy enough to hold everything I need and its several pockets make this bag really functional. I love the bag's versatility! It can go from shoulder bag to cross-body, or I can be completely hands-free and know that my bag is secure thanks to its patent-pending strollerstrap. Overall, I absolutely love this bag!

I would also like the Explorer Bag. I really love how these clip onto the stroller. This is a must have feature. The bag I have been using the most, well actually my two favorites, don't have that feature and while I don't use the stroller a ton, I use it for clipping onto shopping carts when grocery shopping and I miss it every time!
