I know we're all a little sad that our darling cherubs are back in school, but aren't we also looking forward to getting some order back in our lives? SO many things get put on the back burner when there are vacations, summer camps, pool days, sleepovers, and a thousand other things that suck up our time but also put the house in disarray! Personally, I am enthusiastically relieved about being able to catch up on some cleaning and get into a routine that I can stick to now that school is back in session. While I love a clean living space, I also don't want to spend all my child-free hours on my hands and knees, because goodness knows we all have a full day of errands to run and tasks to cross off as it is! So here is a very manageable weekly home cleaning schedule that is easy to follow and won't take up all your free time.
Weekly home cleaning schedule
MONDAY – Counter Top Day!
Today is all about getting back to the healthy norm. The weekends can get sloppy and busy, so Monday is meant to help you put your sanity back together. Tackle the weekend clutter – that means the extra dishes and extraneous messes from parties, gatherings, or other activities. Address every lone piece of paper on your counters, whether they be in the form of mail, letters, forms, bills, school papers, etc. Get your counter top completely debris-free and start your week with a clean slate.
TUESDAY – Wash day!
I usually have a lot of early-week stamina still leftover to dedicate Tuesday as my wash day. Stay on track to fit in as many loads as you can today. Putting away folded and sorted clothes will take less time if you do it all at once instead of over the course of the entire week. Don't forget the kitchen rags and towels, used bedding, bathroom towels, and seasonal items like beach towels or warmer jackets.
WEDNESDAY – Bathroom Day!
Clean the toilets, wipe down the counters, wash the mirrors, and sweep the floors. Scrub the showers, tubs, and sinks and shake out the rugs. Take out the bathroom trash and switch out the towels.
