If you've got cats, you know the only bad part about having them is cleaning the litter box. Trust me, I love our fur babies dearly, but I hate cleaning out their litter box and the job somehow always falls on me! We've tried various boxes over the years, but just recently I was introduced to Litter-Robot and I'm completely blown away by how amazing their newest model is. Litter-Robot 3 Connect - The Best Automatic Litter Box
You've probably heard of automatic litter boxes, and so had I, but the Litter-Robot 3 Connect has got to be the most innovative on the market! With a patented sifting system, this automatic litter box eliminates the need to ever scoop poop again. My kids were just amazed watching the cycle process for the first time. After filling the inner globe with clumping cat litter, the sensors inside the box will recognize when a cat is going to the bathroom. That begins a timer which gives the feline enough time to do their business. After the cat has left the litter box, the cleaning cycle begins.
You can choose to set your automatic timer to 3, 7, or 15 minutes depending on your cat's needs. Our cats tend to use their litter box fairly quickly, so ours is set to three minutes. If you have an elderly cat who needs more time, or your cats are just learning to use the Litter-Robot, a longer cycle may be a better option.
How does the Litter-Robot 3 Connect Work?
With a patented sifting process, the Litter-Robot 3 Connect separates waste from the litter. Then it drops the clumps into a drawer below for easy clean-up. This gives the cats a fresh batch of litter each time they need to use the box! Plus, everyone knows litter boxes smell, even when you clean them frequently. The Litter-Robot helps eliminate smells because the waste is held in a drawer beneath the unit.
Overnight, you can choose whether or not to use the 8-hour sleep mode. If you use it, the unit will not cycle overnight and will resume in the morning. Our bedrooms are not located near the cat room so we keep ours on 24 hours a day. The Litter-Robot 3 Connect also has a blue night light that automatically comes on in the evening. This is especially helpful for elderly cats. If your cats are on the older side, you can purchase the optional Ramp with textured steps to make using the Litter-Robot even easier.
Emptying the Litter-Robot 3 Connect
I use a plastic bag in our drawer to catch the waste, and then empty it every 2-3 days. If you have one cat, you'll likely need to empty your drawer once a week or so. We have two so I empty ours more frequently. I'm amazed by how well the smell is contained! I do want to mention that you'll need to use clumping litter with the Litter-Robot. You can purchase All-Natural Clumping Litter or check with Litter-Robot customer service if you want to make sure your current clumping litter will work. They also offer Biodegradable Waste Bags so you can eliminate plastic usage!
The removable panel on the front of the Litter-Robot 3 Connect helps to catch litter as our cats are exiting the unit. I've noticed considerably less litter making its way out of the cat room. I still vacuum about once a week, but I'm finding less litter on the floor which is great!
Wi-Fi Connectivity with the Litter-Robot 3 Connect
One of my favorite features of the Litter-Robot 3 Connect is that it can be connected to Wi-Fi! The Apple and Android compatible app allow me to keep tabs on the litter box even when we're not home. From the app, I'm able to check how full the waste drawer is, run a manual cycle, get notifications, troubleshoot, and even see the usage and cycle history! If you have a cat prone to UTIs or other GI issues, the app can be a helpful tool for tracking your cat's bathroom use.
It took our cats about 8 hours to get comfortable enough to use the Litter-Robot 3 Connect. They were hesitant at first but they got used to it fairly quickly. As soon as they saw me putting litter into it, they knew what to do! Litter-Robot offers a few helpful tips on acclimating your cat if they need some help getting used to their new litter box.
The Litter-Robot 3 Connect is the highest-rated automatic litter box on the market, and with the added Wi-Fi connectivity I think it's the best option out there! Ours were definitely wary of it to begin with, but they warmed up pretty quickly! Now our younger cat stands outside and watches it cycle which is pretty humorous!

This litter box and its price ($499.00!) are totally absurd. Manually scooping our cat's box is no big deal, and my house does not smell like their litter box. Just another fancy gadget, if you ask me!

I can understand your concern about the cost, Vanessa! I have to say though, the convenience and the fact that we use about 1/2 the litter each month are both adding up very quickly to negate the monetary cost. It's been a huge game changer in our household and eliminates one more chore that I have to do daily, which I love! Litter-Robot also offers payment plans which are a very affordable option.
