If you have a Cars fan in your family, you're going to absolutely love the new Lightning McQueen Racing Academy at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios! We recently had the chance to visit this brand new attraction and it was such a blast, especially for our son. Disney invited my family to the park for the day so I could share all the details with you!
Hollywood Studios at Disney has so many fun updates over the past year. One of our favorite new attractions is the Toy Story Land, followed closely by the new Disney Junior Dance Party. Now, with the Lightning McQueen Racing Academy, there's even more for families to enjoy! Our son is a HUGE Cars fan; he loves it so much that we stayed in the Cars Suites at the Art of Animation Disney Resort during one of our recent trips. When I told him we'd get to see Lightning McQueen this time, he was beyond excited!
Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy
Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy takes place at Sunset Showcase in Cars Courtyard at Hollywood Studios. McQueen takes the stage and shares what it takes to become a champion racer! As soon as the legendary number 95 appeared, our kids (and the whole audience of families!) cheered. There's something so magical about seeing your favorite characters come to life!
Visitors get to join Lightning McQueen as he demonstrates all the things he's learned over the years. He's got a brand new racing simulator with a wraparound screen. At Chick Hick's Motor Speedway, we got to see Lightning try out his state-of-the-art simulator. Of course, things don't always go according to plan so he has to think fast to stay on course!
We saw some familiar faces including Tow Mater, Cruz Ramirez, and the gang from Radiator Springs. If you're wondering whether Lightning McQueen wins the race, you'll have to visit Disney to find out! Just kidding, of course he wins! It was so fun to see the kids' excitement as he lit up the stage.
Outdoor Activities in the Cars Courtyard
There's even more fun to be had outside in the courtyard at Sunset Showcase. DJ, the ultimate party car from Route 66, has some amazing music for the crowds! He gets everyone revved up for DJ's Ready! Set! Party Time! Cars-inspired dances and games. As you can see, our son had so much fun with the choreographed dances and games! There are multiple activities scheduled each day, so check for showtimes.

Wow, that looks like so much fun. Our 2 yr. old grandson, Ashton, crazy LOVES anything to do with cars or any vehicles and he would be on cloud 9 there!
He chose vehicles for his 2nd birthday party theme in March all by himself and if we could go to this at Hollywood Studios, I'm not sure WHO would MORE excited.. Ashton or all of us adults, FOR him. haha.
None of us can afford a trip there from Michigan right now, but hopefully, before he grows up, someday.
