This summer has been filled with so many rainy days. While I really don't love going out in the rain, I do love the rain jackets that come with the sprinkles! I've partnered with Mia Melon and One Man Outerwear to share two of the styles from their spring collection and why they're my favorite rain gear company. Plus, we're giving away a jacket from Mia Melon's spring line, too!
One Man Outerwear Commuter Hoodie
While I wouldn't necessarily call my husband fashionable, he does appreciate nice clothing. He generally wears whatever I buy him, and for rain jackets it's no different. I figured he could use a nice, warm jacket that wasn't devoted to winter, and I found the perfect option with One Man Outerwear. The Commuter Hoodie is from the spring 2019 collection and Tyler went with the charcoal color.
This jacket is both windproof and waterproof, which is perfect for the weather around here. We have had the strangest spring and summer! In Minnesota, we typically know what the weather will be like before the day begins. We don't typically have crazy weather pattern shifts, or go from sunny to rain and back very often. This year, though? The weather has been all over the place! Just the other day we went from sunny to pouring about four times in one day. I can tell you, it put a damper on our visit to the park and attempted grocery shopping. Thankfully, we all had our rain jackets with!
Innovative Features on the Commuter Hoodie
Tyler's Commuter Hoodie has some innovative features, including these underarm zipper vents. While the rain was pouring down last week, it was still over 80 degrees outside. With these zipper vents, Tyler was able to stay cool and dry at the same time. Another nice feature are these hidden reflective taping on the cuffs and thumb-holes. If you're a commuter and ride your bike to work or elsewhere, these are a must-have.
The hood is generously sized and offers cinch pulls to protect your hair and face. It's also detachable if you prefer to remove the hood. Rated for 32-65 degrees Fahrenheit, this jacket is perfect for Minnesota spring and fall. It also features a zippered cell phone pocket on the chest for easy access.
Tyler has been wearing this rain jacket at home and also to work some days. He recently started at a new location (same job, different place) that requires him to walk from inside the job site to a trailer multiple times per day. Having his Commuter Hoodie on hand allows him to keep from getting wet when he's hauling tools back and forth. It's been a very versatile, comfortable jacket for him!
Mia Melon Houston Light Trending Rain Jacket
I have been on the hunt for a lightweight rain jacket for our rainy summer days, and Mia Melon offers a few lightweight styles in their spring 2019 lineup. I chose this beautiful Houston Light Trending Rain Jacket in Clay. The asymmetrical antique nickel zipper is one of my favorite features on the Houston. I went with a lighter color because my other rain jackets are both dark!
Features on the Houston Lightweight Trending Rain Jacket
Just like Tyler's coat, this rain jacket is both windproof and waterproof. It's rated for 50-68 degrees Fahrenheit, so it's more of a fair weather jacket than some of the heavier coats Mia Melon offers. I knew it would be perfect for those spring and summer rain showers! I can't tell you how many compliments I've received on this jacket! It's so lightweight and stylish, as well as comfortable.
Made of a lightweight 100% cotton herringbone fabric, this rain jacket has a DWR treatment to bead off rain. The inner fabric is a quick dry brushed mesh lining. Between the outer fabric and the lining, the jacket is very breathable. I love the attached hood; when the jacket is fully zipped it stays in place while allowing me to see my surroundings.
As with all Mia Melon products, this jacket is well-made and durable. The fabric is easy to wash and it's easily my favorite go-to rain coat now!
