If you're planning a trip soon, I've got details on the hotel in Duluth MN with the best view of Lake Superior! I've partnered with Hampton Inn to share their amenities and photos of our recent visit.
Some of our readers may know this, but I met my husband while at my freshman year of college in Duluth, Minnesota. We started dating sophomore year and eventually moved away but Duluth remains one of my very favorite cities to visit. One of the locations we can't miss when we travel up to Duluth is Canal Park. There are so many shops and restaurants, plus the Aerial Lift Bridge and Duluth Harbor Lighthouse are some of the best attractions in the city.
While there are a few hotel offerings in the Canal Park area, the Hampton Inn Hotel in Duluth, MN has the most incredible view of Lake Superior and is just a short walk away from all of the best things you can see while visiting Duluth. I am so thrilled to partner with Hampton Inn to share their amenities!
Hampton Inn - The Hotel in Duluth MN With the Best View
Upon entering the Hampton Inn Hotel in Duluth MN, you'll see a grand staircase with gorgeous canvases showcasing views of the North Shore. The employees at Guest Services are incredibly welcoming and helpful as you check in. During our stay, the lobby remained a nice, quiet area even though the hotel was bustling with late summer visitors.
Hampton Inn Canal Park Rooms
Our double queen room had everything we needed, including a gorgeous view of Lake Superior right outside our window. Our kids appreciated the large-screen TV and access to cable! We also had a microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee maker in the room. There was plenty of space for the four of us and the bathroom was large and very clean as well. One day while we were out, we forgot to take the "Do Not Disturb" hanger off our door. We came back to a large bag of fresh towels and toiletries outside our room-what a great treat!
People visiting Minnesota are always amazed at how large Lake Superior is. On windy days, the waves come crashing in and you'd swear it's not a lake but an ocean! We had a great view from our room of Uncle Harvey's Mausoleum and some huge waves.
Hampton Inn Canal Park Pool & Hot Tub - Hotel in Duluth, MN
The Hampton Inn in Canal Park has a pool and hot tub, which are requirements for our family (especially the kids!) when we stay at hotels. Though the pool was fairly shallow (4'9" at the deepest point), I actually liked that because I didn't have to worry about it getting too deep. There were always fresh towels and the pool area was clean and quiet. The best part? The toasty warm hot tub after long days of walking around Duluth!
Hampton Inn Canal Park Fitness Center - Hotel in Duluth, MN
If you don't want to skip out on your exercise routine while on vacation, the Hampton Inn has a fitness room for you. They have a treadmill, elliptical, medicine balls, yoga equipment, and more. There's a large TV to keep yourself occupied while working out, and access to fresh water and towels as well.
You could also easily get a workout routine in on the Duluth Lakewalk. The Lakewalk is 7.5 miles long and travels from the Canal Park Museum to London Road. While we like to walk with our kids, I've seen many people biking, skateboarding, and running with pets along this great trail that runs right alongside Lake Superior. Conveniently, it's directly outside the back door of the Hampton Inn!
Duluth Lakewalk near Hotel in Duluth, MN
There are many places to stop and toss rocks in the water or, if you're brave, wade into the chilly waters of the lake. Sometimes you'll see large pieces of driftwood or huge ships coming into the harbor!
Our kids could spend all day throwing rocks and dipping their toes into Lake Superior. They also love climbing on the jagged rocks along the shoreline. Any time we had a free minute, the kids were begging to go down to the lake. It was so nice to have the convenience of the Lakewalk directly outside our hotel.
Canal Park Attractions Near Hampton Inn -Hotel in Duluth, MN
We walked down to Canal Park a few times to check out the shops and watch the Aerial Lift Bridge go up and down. The beauty of the lake as the sun sets is just incredible. I was hoping to catch a sunrise but both mornings were very foggy during our visit! Hopefully we'll have brighter weather when we head there again. Pro tip: next time you're in Duluth, make sure you grab some caramel apples from The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory which is in Canal Park. Also, Canal Park Brewery, which is located directly next door to the Hampton Inn, has some incredible food!
Along with being so close to everything in Canal Park, the Hampton Inn is just a short drive (or walk if you're ambitious!) away from Bayfront Park which holds a lot of festivals. While we were in Duluth, it was the Rising Festival complete with hot air balloons and huge inflatables for the kids. We were less than a five minute drive away from all the fun and we took it all in on Friday night. Not only is the Hampton Inn close to local attractions, but they also offer discounted tickets! We bought steeply discounted tickets to the Great Lakes Aquarium during our stay. The kids loved it and it was less than a five minute drive away from our hotel. Make sure you ask what other attractions you can get discounts for when you visit!
Hampton Inn Canal Park Complimentary Breakfast - Hotel in Duluth, MN
One of the best parts of our stay at the Hampton Inn was the incredible, complimentary breakfast they provided each morning. After long days of exploring Duluth and swimming as much as possible at the hotel, we all woke up hungry! The complimentary breakfast was exactly what we needed to fuel up each morning. From fresh waffles to delicious breakfast potatoes, sausages biscuits with gravy, bacon, donuts and pastries, there was something for everyone. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and they kept the breakfast offerings fully stocked.
There was a lot of space for patrons to eat in the breakfast area, and this carried over into the patio out the back door. We loved having breakfast outdoors right by Lake Superior! It was also a superb place to watch the sky change as the sun set each night.
Our stay at the Hampton Inn could not have been better. It was the perfect location for everything we wanted to see and do on our visit to Duluth. It's just across the bridge from the best beach in the city, also--make sure you visit Park Point next time you're in Duluth. I can't wait for our next visit to my favorite city and you can guess where we'll be booking a room!
