Get game day ready with a football themed tablescape and easy appetizers that will make everyone happy. I'll show you some easy decor and food ideas that you can grab right at your local Publix supermarket that would be perfect for the Big Game.
Football season is coming to an end and that means it's time for the biggest game of the year. As we near the end of the playoffs and get closer to the Big Game, I'm preparing for one thing - my game day spread. I love entertaining so we've got the perfect set-up for watching our favorite teams battle it out. I like to keep it as simple as possible. Maybe you do too? If so, I've got some great game day food and decor ideas for you to please your crowd.
The first thing I think about when it comes to the big game is food. After all, what's a party without a great selection of food? Thankfully, Publix has made it easier than ever to create the perfect game day menu of appetizers and finger foods so you won't spend all of your time in the kitchen once guests arrive. You can simply serve up an awesome spread and then sit back and relax with your friends and family.
Football Party Food
Since the big game always falls a little bit after the beginning of the new year, I always try to include something a little lighter in my game day spread for all of our health-conscious friends and family members. This actually includes me too since I love to snack but don't like overindulging on heavy fare. A Sabra Hummus platter is perfect for this!
Sabra has so many yummy varieties of hummus, but my personal favorite is the Roasted Red Pepper. It's so flavorful and pairs perfectly with every vegetable and cracker I can think of. To make a colorful and attractive vegetable platter, I simply placed a 10-ounce container of Sabra Hummus at the center of a large platter, then surrounded it with my favorite vegetables. Red, yellow, and orange peppers add so much color and taste to this platter and really break up the green veggies. I also added carrots, celery, cucumber, and sugar snap peas. All of these crisp veggies are perfect for dipping into the hummus and it's something you can feel good about eating.
Another thing I knew I wanted to include in my game day spread was Tyson Any’tizers. Trust me when I say that their Popcorn Chicken is SO incredibly yummy and easy. All you need to do is grab a bag of two from the frozen food section of Publix, bake and enjoy!
We eat the popcorn chicken on a regular basis and love to pair it with our favorite dipping sauces like ranch, honey mustard, and barbecue. I found this adorable football bowl set with a decorative goal post at our local party supply store and knew it would be perfect for dipping sauces.
Another great item to have on hand for parties is Mission Tortilla chips. I grabbed a few bags of their Tortilla Rounds for our game day party. They're so good and everyone loves them. Just pair them with an easy dip (which you can grab right in the deli section of your local Publix) or your favorite salsa and you're good to go!
For beverages, I like to keep it simple. I always tell people to bring the drink of their choice, but I like to provide light beverages too; especially water and seltzer. Polar Seltzers are always a favorite since they come in so many different varieties. I especially like the Raspberry Lime and Black Cherry flavors. The fizz and flavor make them feel like a treat even though they're calorie-free.
Of course, I always like to provide a treat for my guests with a sweet tooth. Store-bought cupcakes are so easy and Publix bakery makes some of the best around. You can even special order them in your team's colors.
Just grab a few packages and adorn them with football-themed flags that you can get online or at your local party supply store. I know these will be a hit and they're so festive.
Football Party Decor
For the tablescape, I bought a few other things from our party supply store, too, including a table runner (which was actually called a floor runner), some small rubber footballs, a few foam fingers (I bought generic colors but you can grab your team's colors since they have most colors available) some football napkins and those cute toothpicks and a referee tray for the cupcakes.
Not only does Publix make it easy to put together a fabulous spread, but you can also save money on all your game-day needs from 1/18/20 to 1/31/20.
