Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Emmys Red Carpet with Keurig as part of an ongoing partnership.
Every once in awhile I get an email that makes me literally shout out loud. They are few and far between, but when I got an email from my friends at Keurig last month, inviting me to Los Angeles for an Emmys weekend celebration, I was borderline hysterical buzzing with excitement! I have to admit, I frequent celebrity websites and love the fashion element of award shows, so to be in the midst of it all sounded like an experience of a lifetime.
Keurig brought us out to stay at the lovely Mondrian Los Angeles and made it feel like home by providing lovely accommodations and a Keurig Elite brewer in our rooms. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. It was a perfect start to our Emmys experience.
Over the next few days I was able to sit back, relax, and enjoy LA with four other writers. One of the best things about these kind of experiences is being able to meet other bloggers and site owners to "talk shop". Not many people in my day to day life understand the ins and outs of this business, so it's really refreshing to talk about what's working for you and how to improve your site. From left to right pictured above: Meg from A Practical Wedding, Vera from Lady and the Blog, Audrey from Mom Generations, Natalie from Hot Moms Club, and me. These women, along with the lovely ladies from the Keurig team, were wonderful. Our group had excellent chemistry and it made the trip even that much more enjoyable.
Each morning we fueled up with Keurig before being submerged into the LA scene. We visited several hot spots, including the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel (so fancy!), Fig & Olive, Mastro's, Bliss Spa at the W Hotel, and of course we also got to do some sightseeing as well. We even had a private yoga lesson. This was my very first time and let me tell you - it's harder than it looks! We also got to check out the brand new Keurig 2.0 brewing system. Spoiler alert: it's AWESOME {but I'll have more on that later}.
Then, the BIG DAY came! As a sponsor of the Emmys, Keurig was invited to view the red carpet and they generously extended this offer to us. That's not all though - they even arranged for a hair and makeup team to come in and make sure we were red carpet ready! It was so much fun and the whole time I was thinking to myself, "How on Earth did I get so lucky?!".
Once we got to the Staples Center, where the Emmys awards were taking place, we took our spots on the red carpet. The carpet is set up with multiple areas where the press can interview the stars and take photographs. Although most of that area was blocked with the high hedges you see pictured, all of the stars had to walk the carpet right in front of us to enter the Staples Center. The hedges also made for the most gorgeous backdrop!
The red carpet experience is fun because it brings part of the show to you. Not only were we going to see all of the talent and production members up close and personal, we also got to see the winner results in the metal briefcases before the show... which is kind of a big deal since the cases are even handcuffed to their wrists!
Then the stars started rolling it...
Get ready for some amazing fashion!
First, I have to talk about the fabulous maternity styles on the carpet! Expectant moms Amanda Peet and Hayden Panettiere were stunning.
Host Seth Myers looked awesome in a navy Valentino tuxedo. He was really friendly towards the crowd and seemed to be excited about his big night.
I know some people weren't a fan of Allison Janey's dress, but I loved it! The velvet, the color, the bow, her figure - it was even better in person. I've been a fan since her days on The West Wing, and I swear she just looks better every year.
As you might imagine, the leading ladies from Modern Family were beautiful. Sofia Vergara is even more attractive than I could have ever imagined. Her body is basically amazing.
The gentlemen from Modern Family were also well dressed. I loved Jesse Tyler Ferguson's checkered print tuxedo.
I was super excited to see Matthew McConaughey in person... and I don't know, but I'm pretty sure we had a moment - I mean look at that eye contact!
My husband and I are super late to the party, but we've just started catching episodes of Breaking Bad, so I was totally geeking out just a tad excited to see Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. Aaron even stopped to give several autographs and was just so friendly. He also stared adoringly at his wife, who is drop dead gorgeous - it was very sweet.
Okay, I am totally out of the Orange is the New Black loop. Apparently this is THE show to watch right now. Laura Prepon, Danielle Brooks, Taylor Schilling, and Uzo Aduba are pictured above.
More OITNB ladies! I just adore Taryn Manning's golden dress! It's beautiful and fits her like a glove. Dascha Polanco and Laverne Cox also showed off their gorgeous curves.
Fargo's Allison Tolman looked fabulous in emerald green, and I love the look on her co-star Colin Hank's face when he catches sight of her on the red carpet. His demeanor was a little more serious, but he warmed up the minute he saw her.
The gentlemen from Mad Men were so personable and lovely. Jon Hamm was dapper (as usual) and posed a few times as he went by, and Robert Morse made some time to chit chat with us. P.S. Hamm's longtime partner, Jennifer Westfeldt looked amazing!
Mad Men's January Jones and Christina Hendricks, were both wearing red this year (as were many other ladies - it was certainly a hot red carpet trend). I love love love Christina's Marchesa gown. It was show stopping!
One of the highlights of the night for me was seeing the cast of the Big Bang Theory. My husband and I absolutely love this show, so I wasn't necessarily cool and collected when they came by. Mayin Bialik's gown was certainly interesting, but I really loved the color on her.
The Big Bang Theory guys were also there. We were seated next to a somewhat LOUD lady who was somewhat harassing the stars, so they tended to zoom past us - especially Simon Helberg, who the woman kept screaming "HOWARD" at. I'm sure celebrities love to be called by their character's name. I was pumped when Jim Parsons snagged the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series - his fourth win and totally deserved!
Kevin Spacey looked handsome in a classic tux. Who knew he hung out with journalist Ashely Banfield?!
There were a few intriguing fashion choices at this show and Sarah Paulson's Armani dress may be at the top of the list. E! may have listed her on their "worst dressed list", but I happen to like it!
I think I will agree with E!'s addition of Lena Dunham to the "worst dressed list". I actually do love the full ombre skirt she's rocking, it was just oddly paired with her super unflattering button down shirt {double strike for those cap sleeves}. I think had she chosen a better fitting shirt, it would have looked better. I think she was also terribly uncomfortable in her shoes, as she hobbled by us and held tightly to her date for the evening. I think she should have just worn comfy flats and no one would have known otherwise.
America's favorite funny ladies also graced the carpet, looking fab! Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Poehler, and Sarah Silverman are pictured above.
Of course, there were plenty of funny guys there too. Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert also made red carpet appearances.
The red carpet experience lasted a few hours, but it seemed to fly by! It was truly a tremendous experience. I had so much fun chatting with the ladies in our group and seeing my favorite stars. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for sure!
Once the red carpet was over, we headed back to the Mondrian Los Angeles and got glam in our Rent the Runway dresses {I'm obsessed with this Halston Heritage dress I'm wearing} for a private dinner party to view the awards ceremony. We had such a fabulous evening, complete with coffee and dessert pairings. I cannot even begin to describe the amount of fun packed into the trip!
Thank you so much to Keurig for inviting me to be a part of this event! It was AMAZING!

I always love the "worst dressed" fashions. I'm lucky I'm not a celebrity because I think that proves I'd probably make the list every year. Before I read your caption, looking at Sarah Paulson's Armani dress had me thinking "I wonder if I could pull something like that off for my wedding with my figure..?" LOL!
I followed you on instagram through this whole experience. I'm so happy for your success, Ruth! Looks like a fabulous time!
