It's beginning to feel more and more like spring here in Minnesota. Aside from snow last Monday, we've had beautiful weather which has made us want to spend lots of time outdoors. I doubt we're alone in this, but winter was long and it took a toll on the amount of time we spent together. We've had far too much screen time and too little real interaction. Our whole family is ready for a reset and we've found just the thing to bring us together, a brand new wooden swing set from Backyard Discovery!

I'm not sure what it was about this winter, but it seemed very long to me. I feel like the past couple months were just spent getting through the day. Often, that meant too much screen time for my kids, too much Facebook for me, and not enough time spent as a family. Don't get me wrong, some days are meant for Netflix and rest, but we were definitely in a rut. We decided it's time for a reset and that we need to spend quality time as a family and get outdoors more now that the weather is so beautiful. When I had the chance to review the Skyfort II Wooden Swing Set from Backyard Discovery, I jumped at the chance! I knew it would be just the thing to get us outside and playing together as a family.
The Skyfort II came to our door in four boxes and I was amazed they could pack such a large swing set into those boxes. We were lucky enough to have GoConfigure send out a team to assemble it for us. I'm so glad they did because those guys knew what they were doing. When they started unpacking the boxes, they organized pieces based on where they would go on the set, which would have been a challenge for us.
My husband is a pretty handy guy, but I still can't imagine how long it would have taken us to assemble without the team from GoConfigure. One gentleman worked on the base of the Skyfort II, and the other worked on putting together the smaller sections. This seemed to work very well for them and they were extremely efficient.
Within seven hours, they had completely assembled the entire swing set. If you're assembling it yourself, Backyard Discovery quotes about 24-48 hours with two moderately skilled people. I would highly recommend having GoConfigure assemble the set if you can. They were very professional and did an amazing, quick job putting our set together.
Skyfort II by Backyard Discovery
After the whole set was together we wanted to follow the safe play guidelines suggested by Backyard Discovery. We bought landscape timbers and mulch to frame the set, leaving six feet on all sides. When we were done with the border, we couldn't have been more pleased with how it looked.
Our kids were beyond excited about the new swing set! They immediately had to check out all of the features.
This swing set has so many incredible features, I honestly wish I'd had one growing up. That being said, I have a blast playing with my kids and watching them use their imaginations together. Their favorite thing to do is play pirates and they get me and my husband involved too!
There is an amazing crow's nest perched above the swings, and our daughter loves to look out and pretend she's the captain of a ship keeping watch for pirates! The telescope is a perfect touch.
I've been reminded how creative kids can be when I listen to our daughter come up with her own story lines and watch her act them out with us. Also, hearing her yell things like "arrrr, matey!" and "you're a scurvy pirate!" from the crow's nest is hilarious!
The raised clubhouse is so spacious and there's room for multiple kids. We love having friends over to play on the swing set and there's plenty of space for everyone. I love all the windows that bring in light and let the kids see out each side.
The back of the club house is adorable. I love that there are even little window sills. Our next project is going to be buying little potted plants to put in the windows!
There are a couple ways to get to and from the club house, and right now our daughter is loving the monkey bars. She hasn't quite mastered them herself yet, but she's getting more confident when my husband and I can help her across. When I see how proud she is after crossing the monkey bars, it reminds me to appreciate these moments when she still needs us. Soon she'll be able to swing across them on her own!
Kids can also get up into the club house via the ladder on the backside. The rungs are the perfect distance apart for little legs. Our son has even mastered the stairs, though we're always within arms reach to make sure he doesn't fall backwards.
One of my favorite things about this swing set is that my kids are learning to play better together while using it. Our son will watch our daughter climb the rock wall and will clap for her when she gets to the top, which is so cute. While we still have our days of fighting over toys, it's amazing to see them playing together and their friendship growing. I think the rock wall is our daughter's favorite way to climb up to the club house. She can already scale that wall so fast!
The front of the club house has plenty of room for kids coming in from the monkey bars or the rock wall and going down the slide. There's a small area designated for a sun deck, and we're considering buying the Ships Captain Wheel from Backyard Discovery to install on that wall!
The Skyfort II boasts a wavy 10-foot slide, and my kids LOVE it. Our daughter flies down it with no fear! Our son is still too little to go down without help, but he loves holding our hand and sliding also. He will grow into it soon!
Another feature the kids really enjoy are the swings. I have fond memories of my parents pushing me on our childhood swing set and I hope my kids will also. The swings are easy to adjust for different heights, and while our daughter enjoys the belt swings, she really loves the glider! We'll be investing in the 2-in-1 Safe-T-Swing from Backyard Discovery for our son so he can enjoy the swings also.
One of my favorite parts of the Skyfort II is the built-in picnic table under the club house. It's adorable and we love bringing snacks or lunch out while we play.
There's even a small section that you could use as a sandbox, though I think we're going to do something a little different. Our daughter is really into planting right now so we thought we might add a little border of flowers and have that be their little garden. Of course we'll make a little path to get to the picnic table, too!
We couldn't love this swing set more. It's incredibly sturdy and has SO many fun features, and I know our kids will use it for years to come. Made of 100% cedar, it's rot and insect resistant so it's built to last up to 25 years. Additionally, it's chemical-free so it's safe for kids and pets.
We've gotten so many compliments from neighbors on our new swing set. Everyone asks us where we got it and even adults joke about wanting to play on it!
There is something about being outside and watching your kids use their imaginations that's just good for the soul. When we are playing together, I'm not distracted by social media or the constant housework to-do list. I feel refreshed and I know the Vitamin D is doing great things for all of us. Backyard Discovery has completely pulled us all out of our winter slump and it's doing amazing things for our family. We are spending more time together and less time in front of screens. We're laughing more and are really enjoying being present with our kids!

I absolutely love the built in picnic table to this swing set mentioned in this review, the Skyfort II. My son's father and I could join him for a little picnic since there is plenty of room! The Mount McKinley swing set would definitely grab my son's attention as there is a steering wheel and telescope included! He has always had a fascination with steering wheels so this is perfect for him. While scrolling through the website though I saw it, the most amazing swing set I have ever set my eyes on....The Grand Towers! I would have a very difficult time controlling myself and not playing on that swing set! The best thing about these swings is that they are made of 100% Cedar. With our weather here we would definitely need a very durable swing set.

We have this exact play set and it is worth every penny! I was worried my oldest at 8 might have been too big but he too enjoys swinging and hanging out in the club house. We put a sandbox in beside it and all the kids love it.

I love all the little details. The sundeck, the picnic table, such cool features. It seems to have something for everyone. I have 6 kids, I think this would bring them closer together. Helping with their imaginations, exercise, bonding and overall well being. Outdoor play is the best.

This swing set is really nice! Perfect for kids to have fun playing on (with adult supervision). Since most of us in the family are not particularly handy with tools, it makes perfect sense to have GoConfigure send out a team for setup. apt. complex we live in because there are almost 1,000 apts. here and plenty of lovely property, but currently no playground. so this would be such an exciting addition for
ALL of the children who live or visit here to share and enjoy.

I would love to win this play set for my kids! The one we have now, my husband had to tear most of it down, so the only parts left are the two swings and the slide (with no ladder). We had to tear down the entire clubhouse and picnic table portion because of the wood rotting. It was a different brand than this, and this one looks to be constructed a lot nicer.

This Backyard Discovery play set brings all kinds of fun for the kids and parents too. I love the sound structure of it, all of the swing options, climbing, picnic time, play house/fort time. This allows kids to do what they do best, interact with others, team work, use their motor skills and social skills. This gives the kids hours and hours of fun playtime all throughout the year. I think it's so wise to invest in a set as this as it will prove to become a favorite hangout and tons of memories to be made.

I have to congratulate Backyard Discovery for making the only swing set I could find with an actual stairwell. I have two children with different disabilities. The stairs provide a safe means of entry. This set is also versatile swing wise. We use many different therapy swings. This set will allow us to use them without modification. Some use the same setup as the porch swing in the set. Knowing the this set will grow with my kids is a great relief. As their abilities change, this set will accommodate them. I can not wait to surprise them with this. The Caribbean swing set is perfect if you have children with changing needs. I will be purchasing this item this week. I will include a follow up review after assembly.
