Summer is already half over but we are relishing every beautiful day in Minnesota! We've been outside almost every day and the kids love to play in our yard right now. We just got them a new playhouse from Backyard Discovery and it is definitely a hit with the neighborhood kids! I've partnered with Backyard Discovery to share their playhouses with you and your chance to WIN one, too!
I found Backyard Discovery a few years back when I was looking for a swing set for our kids. Our kids use the swing set every day and we've been wanting a playhouse to add to the fun for about a year now. It's so funny how a little house can bring so much entertainment, but I remember when my dad built us one and we adored that thing. We played house for hours and came up with all kinds of story lines to act out with friends and cousins. We have a few kids in our neighborhood now and I want to see my kids experience that same magic!
Backyard Discovery Aspen Playhouse
The Backyard Discovery website is full of amazing playhouses! It was very hard for me to narrow down the best option for our family, but the Aspen Playhouse was the winner. Before I head into details on this adorable little house, make sure you check out the large variety of kids playhouses offered-there's definitely something for everyone. I went with the Aspen Playhouse because it's the perfect size for our kids right now. It also offers a variety of fun additions and accessories.
Building the Aspen Playhouse
My husband put together our Aspen Playhouse in about three hours. I'd say he's fairly skilled at construction, so if you'd rather have someone else put it together Backyard Discovery offers that option with professionals from GoConfigure. Tyler did need me to hold things in place a few times, so if you plan to assemble yourself you may want an extra set of hands. The kids were anxiously waiting to play in it and as soon as he finished, they had to check it out!
Aspen Playhouse Outdoor Features
One of the first things I noticed about this playhouse is the adorable bell on the front. Our kids think it's way more fun than a doorbell and they even use it to call everyone in for meals! I love the little flower pot holders too! Harper and Lincoln picked flowers out at The Home Depot and they add so much life to the Aspen. They make it seem even more like a real home!
I'm not sure about your kids, but mine are just obsessed with the mail. Every day they ask to walk to the mailbox and if we drive past they have to check it, too! The Aspen Playhouse comes with an adorable little mailbox attached to a picket fence! It opens so you can put real letters in it, and the flag goes up also. I'm always amazed at the little details Backyard Discovery offers, because they go above and beyond in all their products.
Check out the little bench outside the window, and the cute curtains. Our kids love taking orders at the window on the other side of the house, then peeking through the curtains to deliver a tasty meal. The curtains are on a rod and can slide open or shut. There's room for two small bottoms on the window bench, which is perfect for playing with neighbors! Another fun feature is that the wall lights have a knob to turn them from yellow to black. Your kids can turn them 'on or off' without the need for batteries!
Indoor Features on the Aspen Playhouse
The inside of the Aspen Playhouse is quite spacious! I love the open floor, which makes it easier to keep clean. We can easily pick it up and move it over a few feet to mow the grass, too. We actually had a playhouse in the past with a floor but it constantly got full of leaves and dirt. It was so hard to clean up! The Backyard Discovery team made a wise decision to allow an open floor.
This playhouse comes with a large accessory set including fruits and veggies to serve your guests! Our kids love pretending to wash the produce in the toy sink. They can cook up some corn on the cob on the grill and chop food up with the included cutting board and knife. The fruits and vegetables have Velcro so kids can actually 'cut' them apart! There's also a basket attached to the playhouse for storage.
This playhouse allows so much imaginative and open-ended play which is perfect for young kids. I love to watch Harper and Lincoln come up with new stories as they play house. And when the neighbor kids come over? It's even more fun!
