It's almost the 4th of July! I wanted to share these Rice Krispie treats on a stick earlier but time got away from me, so hopefully you have time to make them by tomorrow! They only take a few ingredients and are so much fun to make - plus they're on a stick which eliminates the mess of eating sticky Rice Krispie bars!
4th of July Rice Krispie Treats on a Stick
I love celebrating the 4th of July. We always have a family get together at my uncle's house and everyone brings a dish to share. This year I thought it would be fun to make Rice Krispie treats for the kids in red, white, and blue!
We made the Rice Krispies according to the directions on the box. Then we separated them into three bowls to color them. We didn't measure out the drops but did a decent squeeze of the bottle. We just poured some in and mixed until they were the blue and red we were looking for. It was MESSY mixing the food coloring in, so fair warning 😉
After that, we made rows of each color in an 8x8 pan. We pressed them hard into the pan and let them cool for a little while before cutting them out with a round cookie cutter.
Curious about this kitchen stand our daughter is using? It's the BEST. Check out my review of the Little Partners learning tower here.
When I make them again, I'll use a 9x13 pan because these turned out pretty thick. I forgot to take a photo of us making circles with the cookie cutter, but I would suggest spraying it with cooking oil because things get sticky!
Of course, as soon as we were done cutting out the circles and putting popsicle sticks in our 4th of July Rice Krispie treats, we had to taste-test them!
I grabbed the thicker popsicle sticks from Amazon because they're sturdier and easier for little hands to hold. Plus, we can make freeze pops and other treats this summer with them!
The Rice Krispie treats are a HUGE hit! My kids love them and we can't wait to share some with their cousins on the 4th of July tomorrow! We hope you have a wonderful Independence Day!
What treats do your kids eat on the 4th of July?
We'd love to hear about them in the comments!

Why is it that everything tastes better on a stick?! We go big for fourth of July, so we will have to do these next year. Have you ever tried the rice krispy trees at christmas time? With powdered sugar snow? Its our favorite. I'm not sure why I never thought of making another holiday rice krispy treat!
