If you're searching for an easy 100 days of school shirt to make with your child, look no further. This "I loved the first 100 days of school" shirt is a breeze to make, whether you have a vinyl cutting machine or not. I'll show you how to make it fast.
Our school does a big celebration for the kindergarteners on the 100th day of school. I know some other schools have the children dress like little 100-year-old men and women, but our school does things a little differently. Not only do they have a classroom party, but the children are also encouraged to read 100 books before the 100th day and if they do, they get throw a whipped cream pie in their teacher's or parent's face. The kids also get to create their very own shirt for the big day (and since they wear uniforms every day, this is really exciting). Each child is asked to decorate a plain white t-shirt with 100 items. They can glue, sew, or pin any items they choose and the only expectation is that they get creative.
I loved helping my son create his 100 days of school shirt. It turned out super cute and he definitely "Rocked" his first 100 days. While my son is more rock-and-roll, my daughter is sugar and spice, and everything nice. I asked her what she'd like to use to decorate her shirt and her only reply was, "Hearts!"

I figured I could make the hearts work and decided to make the shirt say, "I LOVED the first 100 days of school." I knew I'd make the design using PicMonkey and then I'd cut vinyl using my Cricut Explore Air 2 so I grabbed some pink vinyl for this project. If you don't have a Cricut, you can certainly use puffy paint, regular fabric paint, or even a Sharpie to write the message. It really doesn't matter as long as your kiddo is having fun.

I thought about using conversation hearts and hot gluing them to the shirt but decided that might get messy and I didn't want any children, including my own, picking off the candy and eating it. We took a trip to Walmart and found something so much better instead. These heart-shaped foam stickers are perfect for this project (note: the linked stickers are not the exact ones I used, but they're similar).
I took our plain white t-shirt, ironed the vinyl message, and then my daughter and I took turns sticking on the foam hearts. She had a ball decorating her shirt and was so proud she could count to 100.
The shirt came out really cute!
So, to recap, you'll need:
- A plain white t-shirt (I got this one from Walmart)
- Vinyl (and a vinyl cutter like a Cricut) OR puffy paint, or a Sharpie to write the message
- Foam Heart Stickers
