You hear many moms talk about babywearing, but what about wearing your toddler? Yes, this is totally a thing. Just because they learn to walk doesn’t mean you have to stop babywearing. In fact, there are several reason why you shouldn't. I'm sharing why I wear my toddler and giving you a look at the LILLEbaby CarryOn Toddler Carrier.
I am a big advocate of babywearing. I wore both of my kids as newborns and infants, and I didn't stop just because they started walking and becoming more independent. I wore my son until he outgrew the carrier we were using, but thankfully I haven't had to stop wearing my daughter since LILLEbaby sent me their CarryOn Toddler Carrier to review. She's a bit of a peanut at 23 months and 21 pounds and has just started wearing size 2T clothing, so we've just started using this carrier since it has a minimum weight requirement of 20 pounds.
There are actually many reasons why you might want to continue babywearing into the toddler years and I'm sharing 6 reasons why I wear my toddler and why we're loving the LILLEbaby carrier for it!
6 Reasons Why I Wear My Toddler in a LILLEbaby Carrier
1. Sometimes they hate the stroller.
Do you have that toddler that fights you every time they need to be put in a stroller? Maybe he cries the entire time you are out shopping, wanting to get out of his seat and be held? My solution? The LILLEbaby carrier designed for toddlers. This allows me to hold my toddler close and still get things done without the need for a stroller. A back carry works wonders since she can still see what's going on around her and I'm hands free.
2. When your child is cranky
It’s common for toddlers to get clingy when they are cranky. They want to be carried when they're ill or tired. Toddler wearing can be a lifesaver at a time like this. A carrier is so soothing for toddlers, they often drift off to sleep while being worn. I have to say, my daughter is cutting her two-year molars and this carrier has been a lifesaver for me this past month. I love that the LILLEbaby CarryOn Toddler Carrier has a wider and taller torso so my little one gets plenty of support if she drifts to sleep.
3. When you have no room for a stroller
If you don’t have the trunk space for a stroller, you may want to consider toddlerwearing instead. A LILLEbaby carrier doesn’t take up much room at all. In fact, you can leave it in the trunk rather than lugging around a huge stroller so you can use it anytime you need it. Or, you can fold it up and bring it with you in your diaper bag.
The lumbar support on the LILLEbaby carriers is a GAME CHANGER.
4. When you're in a crowded space with your child
It can be daunting for a mom to pull their child through a busy store, theme park or airport. I always fear that her hand may slip from mine and she'll get lost in the sea of people. Again, toddler wearing comes in handy here! You can ensure you don't lose your child and better navigate through the crowds when your toddler isn’t walking alongside you.
5. When you are in a rush with your child
Hustling through a crowded airport is enough to make any mom frazzled. Simplify the situation with toddler wearing. Strapping your child onto your body ensures you and your little one get to where you need to be – fast!
6. When you need storage for small items
If your hands are always full with your keys, money, or cell phone – on top of trying to keep up with your active toddler – a LILLEbaby carrier can help! The carrier offers two pockets for mom’s belongings. Keep everything together and your hands free when you are toddler wearing.
And, just to show you how amazing this LILLEbaby carrier is, here I am carrying my almost 5 year old son. He's 43 inches tall and 42 pounds for reference. He's perfectly capable of walking most days but I wouldn't hesitate to wear him if we were visiting a busy place or needed to get somewhere quick. This carrier, and the lumbar support, makes carrying even heavier kids a breeze. And, speaking of breeze - there's a fantastic option on this carrier. It has a temperature-control panel that zips up for warmth and down to expose cool, breathable, 3D mesh. That is so appreciated here in Florida where the temperatures can get well over 90 degrees. I'm completely impressed with the comfort and adjustability of the CarryOn Toddler Carrier.
