    Outdoor Rainy Day Activities for Kids {PLUS, a GIVEAWAY!}

This spring has been interesting in Minnesota. It went from three feet of snow one weekend to eighty degrees the next! Now that it's almost officially summer, Mother Nature has decided she missed out on spring so we've been getting LOTS of rain. Luckily, it's been fairly warm and rainy so we've still been able to play outside. I've partnered with Stephen Joseph Gifts to share some fun rainy day activities and adorable kids' raingear that you can win!

Outdoor Rainy Day Activities for Kids

Just because it's raining doesn't mean you can't play outside! As long as there's no lightning, try out some of these fun rainy day activities.

Go Swimming. I know, sounds crazy, right? But what better time to play in the rain when you're going to get wet anyway!? Some of our favorite swimming experiences have ended in warm rain as long as there's no lightning!

Hunt for Worms and Nightcrawlers. I don't know about other states, but when it rains in Minnesota, all the worms start coming up from the ground! Our kids love to search for nightcrawlers and worms and play with them in the rain. We always find a dry place for them and cover them with leaves so they don't get eaten by birds!

Splash in Puddles. Always a fun activity, there's no reason you can't jump in puddles while it's still raining! See who can make the biggest splash, or try running, leaping, or skipping through the puddles.

Draw with Sidewalk Chalk. The colors are much more vibrant when the ground is just a little wet. Draw something and then watch the colors spread as the rain comes down.

Dance and Sing Songs. Dancing in the rain is really quite fun, and when you add rainy day songs in, even your neighbors will get a kick out of it! Our kids like to sing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" and "Umbrella" by Rihanna.

Stephen Joseph Gifts - Raingear for Kids!

When you're playing in the rain, it's important to have the right gear. Stephen Joseph Gifts carries the most adorable raingear to suit your children's active imaginations. When I think of rain gear, the first necessity I think of is a good pair of rain boots. My kids are big-time puddle jumpers so tall boots with easy-pull-on handles are a must.

Stephen Joseph Gifts - Kids' Rain Boots

Aren't these Robot Rain Boots just adorable? As soon as we opened the coordinating box our son had to try them on! The waterproof exterior is 100% rubber with a 100% polyester lining. Plus they contain a removable insole so drying the boots out isn't an issue.

    rainy day activities

The soles on these boots have great grip, perfect for slippery, rainy weather. Since our little guy is almost always moving at a full sprint, this is a necessity! He's sure of his footing and ready to splash in these adorable rain boots.

    rainy day activities

Our daughter is really into the color pink and princesses right now. She had a hard time deciding between the fun Mermaid print and the Princesses, but the bright colors in the Princess Rain Boots won this time!

Covered in princesses, castles, crowns, unicorns, and chariots, these boots are just so cute. She gets compliments every time she wears them!

Stephen Joseph Gifts - Kids' Raincoats

    rainy day activities

The next rainy day necessity is a nice raincoat! Stephen Joseph Gifts has TONS of prints to match their boots so your kids can coordinate or go crazy and pick different patterns. We decided to keep it simple and get prints that go with our rain boots!

    rainy day activities

When I think of raincoats, I think of the hard, plastic shells I wore as a kid. Thankfully things have come a long way and these raincoats are as comfortable as can be! With a soft polyurethane outer shell and lightweight cotton lining, the kids can move around easily while staying dry and warm.

    rainy day activities

Perfect for splashing in puddles, Stephen Joseph Gifts' Raincoats have adjustable cuffs and a large hood. My kids go crazy for puddles and while their legs get a little wet, their torsos stay dry! The Princess Raincoat fits our daughter perfectly and is true to size.

Our little guys' blue eyes really pop in his Robot Raincoat! Another great feature is that the coats are machine washable, which is a MUST for our family. I love anything I can toss in the washing machine!

Stephen Joseph Gifts - Kids' Umbrellas

    rainy day activities

The final rainy day necessity is a great umbrella! I can't tell you how much our kids love carrying their own umbrellas and staying fully dry even when the rain is coming down sideways.

    rainy day activities

The umbrellas are 100% polyester and are safe for little fingers because they don't have any buttons! I remember being terrified of umbrellas because I would always pinch my fingers trying to close them. Luckily, these child-sized umbrellas are easy to open and close for small hands. The Robot Umbrella is the perfect way to round out a rainy day ensemble!

    rainy day activities

I love the colors on the whole Princess scheme, and the Princess Umbrella is just perfect. With bright colors, pictures, and teal trim, it couldn't be more fun!

    rainy day activities

The umbrellas come with a Velcro closure for storage and the dimensions when open are 22"L x 27"D.

    rainy day activities

Our kids look so cute in their rainy day outfits, and they love staying warm while they get to play outside in the rain! Stephen Joseph Gifts carries a huge variety of patterns for their raingear, so if your kids aren't interested in princesses or robots, I'm sure they'll still be able to find a style they love!
