If you're looking for an awesome Florida theme park vacation, LEGOLAND Florida might be just what you're looking for! Not only does this resort have a theme park and water park, there are two hotels on property, and it's conveniently located in central Florida. I've partnered with LEGOLAND to share 5 things you don't want to miss when visiting LEGOLAND Florida.
A few weeks ago we met up with some family friends and decided to plan a weekend getaway full of family fun. They had been to Legoland Florida several times and suggested the LEGO themed park as our destination. Since our five-year-old is borderline obsessed with LEGO bricks and our two-year-old loves DUPLO blocks we figured that would be a perfect spot.
LEGOLAND Florida is located in Winter Haven, just off of I-4 between Orlando and Tampa. The trip would take us two hours, so we set out early one morning to make it to the park to make the most of their operating hours, 10 AM to 5 PM. We decided to keep our destination a secret to surprise our little ones and the look on their faces was priceless.
LEGOLAND Florida
As you might imagine, Legoland Florida is filled with amazing creations crafted entirely out of LEGO bricks. There were incredible statues all throughout the park.
One of our favorite spots was MINILAND, USA. This area of the park has miniature replicas of popular destinations, both real and imaginary, brought to life through LEGO bricks.
In fact, over 32 million LEGO bricks were used to create these scenes. Since we live close to Daytona, our little guy really liked the Daytona International Speedway.
Another awesome thing to see was the Las Vegas strip brought to life. There were so many cool things and details to see.
We spent the entire day at the park and had a fantastic time, but five things really stood out for us on our trip. Here are five things not to miss at LEGOLAND Florida.
5 Things Not To Miss at LEGOLAND Florida
1. LEGO NINJAGO WORLD. My son has been watching LEGO NINJAGO for the past few months on Netflix, so I knew he would be thrilled with this new addition to Legoland Florida. We made a beeline for this new area of the park and he went nuts when he saw his favorite characters.
What I love about LEGOLAND Florida is that there are so many opportunities for fun play in between each attraction.
Whether your kids are taking a ride on Kai's Spinners or taking a building break, there is always something for them to be doing and keeping them busy.
We went over to LEGO NINJAGO The Ride and waited a very short time to hop on. This 3-D ride was so much fun and even my two-year-old had a great time blasting animated fireballs and lightning at the villains.
Another highlight of my son's day was meeting Nya! I love the there are character meet and greets, and we didn't even have to wait to see Nya.
2. Pirates' Cove Live Water Ski Show. This pirate-themed water show is full of action and adventure. Miranda Valentina and her loyal Imperial Guards will call on your kids to help them keep Brickbeard's Bounty safe and sound.
Not only will you see stunts by people, LEGO figures also make an appearance to perform some very cool stunts in the water.
My kids were thoroughly impressed!
This 20 minute show kept my kids attention the entire time and they were enthralled. Even my 2-year-old couldn't take her eyes away, and that's no small feat!
3.) Mia's Riding Adventure in Heartlake City. If your little ones are 48 inches or taller, I would definitely recommend checking out this ride.
This disc coaster will have your family spinning and soaring to new heights. It's pretty exhilarating!
While you're in Heartland City, be sure to snap a photo in the #BuiltForKids car. There's also a great ice cream parlor and shopping mall in this area of the park.
4. The Quest for CHI. If you're visiting LEGOLAND Florida on a particularly warm day you should certainly check out the The Quest for CHI. Although the sign says you may get a little wet on this boat ride with cannon blasta, several members of our party ended up fairly drenched. It was so much fun and a great way to cool off on a warm day.
5. The Safari Trek. If you want to check out more amazing LEGO brick creations, take a ride on the Safari.
You'll hop on a car ride through the terrain to see ostriches giraffes lions meerkats and more.
Again we barely had to wait at all to hop on most of the rides at LEGOLAND Florida, which was incredible with little kids in tow.
There were so many rides and attractions to experience at LEGOLAND Florida. My son especially loved the Technicycle in the LEGO Technic area.
My husband and son also took a spin on Project X where they raced a life-size LEGO TECHNIC vehicle along a wild roller coaster track.
My son just met the height requirement for Project X and I think it was just a little too extreme for him. That was the only ride that he didn't want to take a second turn on; although my husband said it was really fun.
Since we live in Florida, we visit theme parks fairly often. I'd like to consider us veterans when it comes to packing for a trip to a park or resort. After looking at online park maps, I decided we would take a double tandem stroller and plenty of sunscreen. Even though a five-year-old is perfectly capable of walking most places, most of the time he or she will appreciate having the option to ride in a stroller when it's hot and humid. If you're wondering if you can rent strollers at LEGOLAND Florida, I'm pleased to report that you can. They've got very cool side-by-side and easy to maneuver strollers for rent.
If you're thinking about meal options, we had a full lunch at LEGOLAND Florida at the Burger Kitchen in LEGO City. The food was great and they had a variety of options, like burgers, including veggie burgers, chicken and fish sandwiches.
The kids meals we're good quality (with a choice of burgers or chicken fingers) and came with a fruit cup, fries, and an Honest juice.
If you want to leave Legoland with a souvenir, don't worry there are plenty of opportunities. There is a large store near the entrance of the park where you can buy all sorts of LEGO sets and gear to take home with you.
As we were leaving the park at the end of the day, my son was already begging us to return. He's asked for his sixth birthday to be celebrated at LEGOLAND, but I don't think we could possibly wait that long to go back. Next time, I want to spend a few days so we can visit the water park too!
Thankfully, our LEGOLAND Florida adventure wasn't quite over yet. Next up was a stay at LEGOLAND Beach Retreat where more LEGO fun was in store. Be sure to check out our full review of the LEGOLAND Beach Retreat coming soon!
