Imagine Baby Products was founded by Nicki (owner of Nicki's Diapers and creator of Best Bottom Diapers) after she saw a need for spreading the word about how easy modern cloth diapering can be. She wanted to give smart, passionate moms the tools to start their own businesses while spreading the fluffy love to their family and friends. She created Imagine Baby Products and the Imagine Advocacy Program to do just that - provide easy, affordable cloth diapers that are widely available so every baby's bottom can be covered in cloth.
I've used Imagine Baby Products before, so I was excited about the opportunity to review one of their All-in-Two (AI2) cloth diapers. The Imagine AI2 is sold as two parts. A shell, in either hook & loop or snap closure, and sized microfiber inserts. Combine the two and you have a super easy and economical cloth diapering system.
I received an Imagine AI2 cover in Indigo with hook & loop closure and a package of size 2 inserts for review.
I love the vibrant blue color of this shell. I've also seen the Emerald and Marigold colors in person and they are bright and beautiful as well. This cover is made of soft, waterproof PUL. There are 3 rise settings to make this a one-size system, designed to fit babies between 8 and 35 pounds. There are PUL flaps in the front and back to keep the insert in place, but the softer side of the PUL is facing baby's skin for comfort and the shiny waterproof side remains inside to contain wetness.
Below are photos of the diaper snapped down to the smallest setting. The crossover tabs are excellent for getting a great fit on a little baby. The leg openings are a little more generous than other one-sized diapers so you might have to wait until your little one gets chunkier thighs before this would fit really well. Of course, you'd use the Size 1 inserts with a smaller baby, but I folded the Size 2 insert down for photo purposes.
There are two high quality snaps inside of the cover to snap-in your insert. This helps prevent the inserts from shifting around while worn. The hook & loop closure is strong and there are laundry tabs to prevent a diaper chain from taking over your washing machine.
My favorite part about this is cover is the double gussets. I just adore double gussets! That extra barrier of protection really helps to contain messes.
The inserts available for the AI2 system are sized and are available in packs of 3. Size 1 is for babies up to 15 pounds and Size 2 is for babies 16-35 pounds. Imagine All-in-Two Inserts are made of 4 layers of microfiber topped with super soft fleece for a stay dry effect. I love AI2s because they're such an affordable system. Just change the insert when it's wet or soiled. If it's only a wet diaper, you can just wipe the cover clean, snap in a new insert and you're good to go.
Now, onto the fit. At first I snapped this to the medium setting since that is what we use for most of our other one-size diapers. The medium setting was fine in the rise, but there was slight gapping at the thighs (his thighs aren't very chunky). He's currently 9 months old and about 20 pounds. I snapped it down to the small setting and was surprised that I got a really great fit. The rise is a little shorter, but the fit around the legs is perfect.
I really like the fit of this diaper. It's trim and fits my like guy perfectly. The absorbency of the insert is great! At nap times I've added a hemp doubler underneath the microfiber, just to be safe. The snap placement for the inserts is perfect for being able to add in a little extra absorbency if you need it. The double gussets are awesome for containing messes.
Overall, the Imagine AI2 performs extremely well and the price point is excellent! I'd love to add a few more of these to my stash! Imagine Baby Products has also launched a grassroots campaign to put a cloth diaper on every baby's bottom!
