Looking for a fun activity to do with your kids? Do you want to build a snowman, Disney Frozen style? I've got just the DIY project for you! I'm going to show you how to make snow for your kids.
I've partnered with Bounty to share how to make snow for your kids.
A few weeks ago, we spent a lazy Saturday morning watching Disney's Frozen and it's been on repeat ever since. My kids have got Frozen fever! My 18 month old brings me the remote and squeals and my 4.5 year old son asks me again and again if I'll load Anna and Elsa on the TV. The other day it occurred to me that he might not know that snow is a real thing. I grew up in Connecticut and have fond memories of building snowmen, sledding and playing in the snow, but my kids won't have those experiences since we live in Florida. I decided to that we'd do a fun DIY so they could build a snowman like their favorite Disney characters.
There are a few different ways to make homemade snow, but I like this recipe the best. Plus, it's pretty inexpensive. I've also used baking soda in the past (instead of corn starch), so that's another option.
How to make snow
Ingredients:
- 2 (16 ounce) packages of corn starch
- 1 can of shaving cream
- Silver glitter
I wanted to make this more Disney Frozen themed, so I also gathered a few supplies like candy corn, wiggly eyes and sticks so we could make our very own Olaf.
Before you start, let me warn you that this activity can be... well, messy. I tried to contain the mess by having my kids mix and play with their DIY snow on a large piece of cut vinyl, but even that didn't really limit the mess. I'm glad we had the new Bounty Prints Featuring Disney Frozen to help us clean up. They're a must-have for any Disney Frozen-related activity and they're adorable to boot! These new Bounty Prints Featuring Disney Frozen come in paper towels and quilted napkins so you'll be all set for clean up and mealtime.
To make your snow, dump the corn starch into a large mixing bowl and dispense the entire can of shaving cream on top.
Then, let your kiddos get to work! It works best when they squeeze the mixture with their hands and knead it, rather than simply mixing it.
Once it's combined a little, add your glitter for a sparkly effect.
The mixture will be a bit crumbly, but it will come together so they can mold it any way they'd like.
Even my little lady got in on the action. This is such a great sensory activity and she enjoyed herself so much.
I couldn't help myself and surprised my kids with a few Disney Frozen toys to coordinate with our fun DIY activity.
They played with the homemade snow for well over an hour and ended up making quite a mess! I was so thankful to have the new Bounty Prints Featuring Disney Frozen paper towels on hand to deal with clean up. Since they're 2x more absorbent than the leading ordinary brand the role can last 50% longer.
My little guy even helped with the clean up thanks to the limited edition Bounty Prints Featuring Disney Frozen.

One of our books of crafts for kids gave us a recipe for cotton ball snow. Now I have 2 ideas. We just moved to an area where we have real snow, but i admit to not liking the long time of getting ready only to find out 5 min later either a child needs to undress to pee or come back inside. Indoor activities are still my favorite. Thanks for the easy recipe! ease is soooo gooood!
