Easy Citrus Marinade Recipe
Whether you're grilling for a tailgate or just for dinner, this easy citrus marinade recipe is perfect for kababs or chicken breasts or cutlets. I've teamed up with the Florida Department of Citrus to show you show Florida oranges and lime juice have just the right amount of tang to make a crowd-pleasing marinade.
Fall is in the air and I'm getting so excited about football season! My entire family are true-blue BYU fans, and every game is a big deal! Wasn't the game last weekend great?!? For as long as I can remember, we would meet up with other BYU families and watch the games together at whoever's house had cable. We'd all wear blue, sing the "Rise and Shout" song, and eat some amazing food. I grew up in a family with SEVEN brothers, all sports enthusiasts, so I know how to throw a pre-game party with the best food! Just like my parents and all my married siblings, my husband and I met at BYU, and loved going to the games while we were engaged! Now that we're on the other side of the country, we still have great tailgating parties at home, and the best recipes we pull out every time are usually warm chip dips and great drinks, but lately, some of the BEST recipes I'm creating include orange juice - including this super delicious citrus marinade!
Orange juice is one of my favorite ingredients to cook with! I'm always throwing it into marinades, salads, and desserts, and experimenting with new flavors is definitely my style of cooking. I am an advocate for all of the health benefits that orange juice can offer, and how it is not just a seasonal favorite, but something that is appealing year-round. I'm always happy about providing my family with its vitamin C, potassium, folate, and thiamin first thing in the morning as well as in the evening while watching the game!
In fact, one 8-oz. glass of 100% Florida Orange Juice delivers more than 100% of the Daily Value recommendation for vitamin C, and counts as one cup of fruit, according to the USDA MyPlate Fruit Group recommendations. It contains no added sugar, no fat, and no cholesterol.
Earlier this month, there was a big event in Harvard Square, NYC: the "Winning with Florida OJ New York City Event". On August 19th, Erin Andrews was a special guest who shared her top tailgating tips. I would have loved to be there! At the event, they gave out take-home recipe cards with a chicken marinade that I really wanted to try! Big thanks to the Florida Department of Citrus for the recipe! The ingredients are really simple.
Florida Orange Marinade
¼ C. 100% Florida Orange Juice
1 T. lime juice
1 T. jerk seasoning
1 t. ginger, minced
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Pour marinade over chicken skewers, cover, and refrigerate for at least 3 hrs. or preferable overnight. Grill them to your liking, and enjoy the game!
I hope I've inspired you to create some recipes of your own using Florida Orange Juice, and that you have some sweet tailgating parties this season!

This recipe sounds and looks good. I have never tried Jerk seasoning before so this should be interesting for me. I love how easy a recipe it is too.

That recipe does sound good! We do the "at home" tailgating as well! However, my husband is a finicky eater! He does not like chicken! So I have to go with some kind of beef or pork dish! I wonder how that recipe would taste on pork? hmmmm Something to think about! Thanks for sharing your recipe and your favorite time of year tailgating with all of us! I appreciate it!! Thanks again, Michele 🙂

I've tried mixing orange juice in a pancake mixture instead of water. They were good, but not as orangey flavor as we would have liked. Maybe next time, I should add orange juice with lots of pulp or maybe real small bits of orange rind too. I could try orange muffins too. I want to try your delicious marinade also.

You should try a little Orange Extract. It's more potent and gives that flavor without adding too much additional liquid 🙂

Thank you! I never thought of that!
I just used what was handy at the time, but I like your way better! So will the grandkids <3
