One big regret I had with my first pregnancy was not getting professional maternity photos. I didn't feel particularly attractive during that pregnancy and looked swollen and bloated, but I still wish I had captured that moment in our lives. I let the hustle and bustle of daily life (we were preparing to move just 2 weeks after our little guy arrived) and my insecurities get the best of me and I missed out. I knew this time would be different. I was just starting to think about booking a maternity session when the lovely photographer that does the school portraits at my son's preschool reached out to me. She told me that she prefers to shoot in natural light, without a lot of props and and that sounded perfect to me. That's totally my style! I hired Ann from Candid Pix Photography that day to take family maternity photos for us.
It just so happened that we booked the shoot for week 36 of my pregnancy. Right after 36 weeks was when I got SUPER puffy with my first pregnancy, so I figured that was ideal. Little did I know that I'd deliver our sweet little lady just a few days later!
Luckily, we live close to the beach so we had the perfect setting for our photos. I love that Ann choose a spot that incorporated Southwest Florida's natural landscape and the coast. We had such a great experience and Ann was so flexible and easy going. She gave us ideas for poses but also just let us be us. I'm so pleased with the way the photos came out and we immediately booked her for a newborn session shortly after. Keep an eye out for those photos coming soon!
I hope these photos give you some inspiration and ideas for your own maternity or family photo session.

These are such great photos, and you look so beautiful! I totally can relate - I was planning on doing maternity photos with my first and kinda just never got around to it.. I don't particularly regret it, but maybe that's just because we're still towards of the beginning of growing our family. I'm pregnant with #2 though and will definitely have to consider doing a maternity shoot like yours! I have seen one absolutely precious maternity photo where mom and little toddler girl are looking down at their round tummies. My daughter would be perfect for this as she still has that very round adorable baby tummy <3
