When you're far away from friends or family or you're social distancing, virtual happy hour is a great way to stay connected. I'm going to show you how to make a classic Old Fashioned at home in just a few simple steps for your next virtual mixer.

    old fashioned at home

I love happy hour. I love chatting and catching up with friends over a cocktail while relaxing at the end of a hard day or week. Unfortunately, due to social distancing, I haven't been able to meet my girlfriends out. Instead, we're relying on technology to keep us close while distance separates us. I've had quite a few virtual happy hours via Zoom and FaceTime during the quarantine and I actually love it. It's such a fun way to "meet up" and you can totally just come as you are.

I really enjoy Old Fashioned cocktails when we're out and about, but I've always thought they were too complicated to make at home. Then, I found out that DeKuyper, the brand bartenders trust, added DeKuyper Classic Ol' Fashion liqueur to their lineup. That means I can create a classic bourbon Old Fashioned cocktail at home in just a few simple steps.

DeKuyper Classic Ol' Fashion liqueur makes creating Old Fashioned cocktails virtually effortless. This new liqueur has flavors of tart citrus, balanced by bitter notes and a touch of sweetness, followed by hints of orange and bakery spice.

How to make an Old Fashioned at home

To make a classic Old Fashioned I added a large ice cube to a beautiful rocks glass and got ready to pour. I added two parts of bourbon and 1 part DeKuyper Classic Ol' Fashion and stirred. Seriously, it was that easy! I also added a cherry and an orange peel to garnish my cocktail so I could get that bar-quality experience at home.

DeKuyper Classic Ol' Fashion liqueur provides such a hassle-free way to make a fairly complicated drink at home. I couldn't believe how easy it was to make an Old Fashioned right in the comfort of my own home in just two easy steps. Plus, I love that I get the same, quality cocktail each and every time. There's no guesswork since there are only two ingredients.

    happy hour at home

I paired my Old Fashioned with a few of my favorite snacks and had the perfect virtual happy hour with my cousin in Connecticut. We spent an hour catching up and although we were a thousand miles apart, we felt close.
