If there is one thing I know will go over extremely well with my boy when it comes to gifts, it's anything that has to do with trains. It could be more tracks for his wooden set, another train engine, an engineer's hat, or a train t-shirt. They're all winners for this train-lover of mine. I knew he would absolutely flip for these Wooden Railway Block Platform from Dreamup Toys, which we received at no cost to facilitate this review. This system combines the best of both worlds! It's a merger between Wooden and LEGO DUPLO Train Track systems.
Compatible with LEGO DUPLO Train Track System
When the shipping box arrived, I made the mistake of telling my son just what was inside. New special train tracks?! It was over from there. Drop everything, mom. These needed to be opened and played with immediately. I'm so glad that these white platform pieces are just as cool as I said they would be!
The Dreamup Toys Wooden Railway Block Platform design is really simple and uncomplicated. They are merely track pieces that are the measurements of an 8x8 DUPLO board that attach to standard wooden train tracks the traditional way, but they have wings that coordinate with DUPLO or LEGO blocks so that several of your child's favorite toys can all be combined to make something new and imaginative. It's like an entirely new game has just been created.
With any traditional Brio-type wooden train tracks, these Dreamup Toys Wooden Railway Block Platforms, and a pile of DUPLO blocks or Mega Blocks, the sky is the limit on what can be imagined and created! Its fun for me to see the tracks become 'new' again and the larger LEGO bricks are being pulled out regularly.
You can purchase a single platform for $11.99, or you can save on multi-packs, which really allow your child to create a busy town of levels and dimensional variation. See how easy it is to seamlessly connect two brands of evergreen toys for some very innovative play?
With the Wooden Railway Block Platforms, you can build above, beneath, and outward. They allow for almost anything to be created. If can be imagined, it can be built. With a handful of ascending track pieces, you could raise the track as many levels as you'd like in a way you haven't been able to before.
It was sure cute to see the little wheels in my boy's head spin when we started trying new things with the platforms. No explanation is needed for toddlers when they see how the platforms connect, and they can really run wild with their creativity and imaginative play. I loved seeing what came to mind and how he wanted to make his train set come to life! I'm sure the creations will continue to evolve and this will be a combination of toys that is used for years to come.
You can even use regular LEGOS! In order to fit over the round stud, you'll need to use blocks that are increments of 2x2 wide.
The little inventor figured this all out on his own. He's 3 ½ and particularly good with his hands, but I think these are totally appropriate for ages 2 and up like the packaging suggests. My 5-year-old was just as enthralled and the two of them can really go to town with all these pieces. I feel like the Wooden Railway Block Platforms also make it easier for more than one child to play together. There are more things to construct and more engineering to do.
Sit back and watch the resourcefulness as your child connects, builds, and creates their little city!
Buy it: You can purchase the Wooden Railway Block Platforms in single packs, twin packs, or a 4-piece family pack on the Dreamup Toys Website or on Amazon.com. These innovative platforms from DreamUp Toys make for a perfectly merged wooden and LEGO DUPLO train track system.

It is important for little children the learn hands-on .... and this is much better than any tech toy for this age ... and wood is preferable to plastic for toys.
