Get ready for the big game with some fun appetizer and snack ideas. You'll please the crowd with this spread from BIGS, Slim Jim, Dorot Gardens, and more. Be sure to check out my recipe for a dairy free garlic onion dip below.
I think most boys love sunflower seeds. My son spent many seasons in the dugout and on the sidelines snacking on sunflower seeds between plays. I just knew when I opened up my Game Day Snacks BabbleBoxx that he was going to go nuts for the BIGS Little Caesar’s ExtraMostBestest Pepperoni Pizza Sunflower Seeds inside. Sunflower seeds AND pepperoni pizza flavor? Of course, he was going to love them.
BIGS Little Caesar’s ExtraMostBestest Pepperoni Pizza Sunflower Seeds
are packed with yummy pepperoni pizza flavor. Like all BIGS Sunflower Seeds, they're fire-roasted for a big kernel crunch, then loaded with bold pizza flavor. These are perfect for game-time snacking. They're also great for on the go, thanks to the resealable bag. My son wasn’t the only one who enjoyed this snack; it was a hit with everyone.
Another snack that I knew my kids would love was Slim Jim Savage Spicy sticks. Not only are these sticks full of spicy, delicious flavor, they're also HUGE. Slim Jim Savage is the beefiest of the bunch, weighing in at 3 ounces (that's 3 times the size of a Slim Jim Giant Stick!). They're made with beef, pork, and chicken, plus a spicy flavor that packs a punch.
As the packaging claims, this stick is so meaty, it's sausage. It's packed with 18 grams of protein per stick so it's sure to satisfy even your hungriest guest. Spicy is the newest Slim Jim Savage flavor and it delivers quite a bold kick.
Another yummy item in my Game Day Snacks BabbleBoxx was from Dorot Gardens. I've been using their herbs since I was introduced to them a few months ago and I absolutely love them. They're a huge timesaver and make cooking a breeze. They're available in 8 varieties: Crushed Garlic (my favorite!), Crushed Ginger, Chopped Basil, Sauteed Onions, Crushed Turmeric, Chopped Parsley, Chopped Cilantro, and Chopped Dill.
As you can see, Dorot Gardens offers pre-portioned fresh frozen herbs, onions, and garlic. That means no peeling, no chopping, and no mess in your kitchen. They make it so convenient to have fresh ingredients on hand. You simply "pop" out the amount you need and that's it.
Dairy Free Garlic Onion Dip Recipe
I decided to use Dorot Gardens Crushed Garlic for my take on a classic, garlic and onion dip. What makes it mine? I try to stick to a dairy-free diet when I can, so instead of using traditional sour cream, I used an alternative so I could enjoy it with my guests.
The key to this recipe is really letting your onions, shallots, and garlic caramelize. You've got to use low heat and go slow. Don't rush the process. See the full list of ingredients and instructions for this dairy free garlic onion dip via the recipe card towards the bottom of this post.
Not having to peel, smash, and finely dice garlic made things much easier. Dorot Gardens made it effortless. It's really the ultimate kitchen hack. 1 farm fresh cube is equivalent to 1 clove. To give this recipe lots of yummy garlic flavor, I used 10 cubes.
Once your onions, garlic, and shallots are caramelized, you'll need to finely chop them to make a smoother, more consistent dip.
Once cooled, add your onion mixture to a bowl with your dairy-free sour cream, mayonnaise, and remaining ingredients. Mix until it's combined well and serve alongside your favorite potato chip or cracker. I'm pretty sure you'll never go back to store-bought onion dip again!
I also added in a few other appetizers and snacks to help complete my big game spread. I made quick and easy deviled eggs, turkey sliders, and set out some fruit and veggies. So quick, yet so satisfying!
