September is baby safety month and I'm excited to share some great car seat safety tips from my friends at Diono! Whether you're expecting your first baby or you're a veteran parents, this a good review for everyone.
If you're new here, you may not know how extremely passionate I am about car seat safety. It's almost a little extreme and my husband jokes that installing car seats is like a religious experience for me. He's kind of right about that. I'm serious about car seat safety and usually won't trust anyone besides myself to install our car seats, besides a CPST of course. Even if I have to switch the seats around, reread the manuals, and watch installation videos, I won't rest until I feel like I have a good fit. Thankfully, I've reviewed a lot of car seats over the past 4 years and feel pretty confident when it comes to installing car seats. Unfortunately, that's not the case for a lot of parents and statistics show that 4 out of 5 car seats are installed incorrectly. Not only that, a lot of parents don't know how to choose the best car seat for their family. According to the CDC, accidents are the leading cause of death among children in the United States, so it's imperative that we do more to protect our most precious cargo. My son is five and very tall he's outgrown our other seat and my husband is pushing to use a high back booster for cost and ease of use reasons but I feel my son is not ready for that. I would love to win this car seat for many reasons. I have a 4 year old and a one & a half year old. My little one still fits in his infant, rear facing seat, but will be growing out of it soon. My 4 year old is very big for his age but I still feel safer with him being in a 5 point harness rather than just a regular seat belt over a booster. I'd love love love to win this. I have a girl and boy who are 11 months apart. I do a lot of driving and my two seem to be very uncomfortable with the seats they have. Driving and hearing a lot of crying can be overwhelming. I've actually borrowed a Diono car seat and my son who is the biggest cryer did not make a peep and in fact feel asleep the whole ride. My first baby is turning ONE this week!!! He's on the smaller side, so still in his infant seat, but we'll need to transition him to a convertible seat soon. My husband will have 2 surgeries total this year, and was also hospitalized once, so it would be such a blessing to win this seat and not have that expense this year.
