Apple Pie a La Mode Recipe

There's not much better than classic apple pie, especially when it's apple pie a la mode! Your get togethers and celebrations are going to be even sweeter with this tasty apple pie on the menu.

    Apple Pie

Sponsored post by Lunchbox, all opinions are 100% my own.

Ah, the holidays! There's so much to enjoy about them - family, friends, great food, delicious treats - the list goes on! I don't know what it is about this time of year, but I just feel compelled to get in the kitchen and bake. I'll admit though, I've never attempted a pie before, even though my husband absolutely loves apple pie. When I saw this delicious recipe on the Target website for apple pie a la mode made with Breyers Natural Vanilla Ice Cream, I knew I just had to make it.

    Here's what you'll need:

    Apple Pie

    Ingredients:

    • 2 refrigerated pie crusts
    • ½ cup PLUS 1 Tbsp. sugar, divided
    • ⅓ cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    • ½ tsp. salt
    • 3 ½ lbs. Granny Smith apples (or golden delicious apples), peeled, cored and thinly sliced - I ended up using 3 pounds.
    • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    • 1 egg, lightly beaten with 2 tsp. water
    • 4 cups Breyers® Natural Vanilla Ice Cream
    • 1 pouch Breyers™ Caramel Flavored Ice Cream Sauce

Directions (altered slightly from original recipe):

Line 9-inch pie plate with one pie crust. Leave edges overhanging; chill until ready to use.

Combine ½ cup sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt in large bowl. Add apples and lemon juice and toss to coat.

    Apple Pie

Arrange apples in prepared pie crust, mounding in center. Place second crust over apples and press gently to adhere to lower crust. Fold overhanging crust over; flute edge and cut a small hole in center to vent (I did four slits). Chill 15 minutes.

    Apple Pie

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Brush pie with egg wash. Sprinkle with remaining 1 tablespoon sugar. Place on baking sheet in the lower third of the oven. Bake 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees. Bake additional 30 minutes, then if your pie crust appears to be browned, cover with foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes until apples are tender, filling is bubbling. Cool on wire rack before serving.

    Apple Pie

For the final touch, top with Breyers Natural Vanilla Ice Cream, then drizzle Breyers Caramel Flavored Ice Cream Sauce on top and serve!

    Apple Pie a la mode

If you want to make this pie for your upcoming holiday get togethers (and really, why wouldn't you?!), Target and Breyers has you covered. Head in-store and take advantage of this special pricing and make a yummy dessert your family and friends will love.

This doesn't look too hard, even for me. I like the Granny Smith apples here, too - they don't get all mushy in the baking. And I think that the Breyers Caramel flavored ice cream sauce is just the crowning touch!

I don't do it too often, so it's definitely a treat when I do! #MySweetHolidays I make brownies as directed on the box. When they are cool, I cut them into squares. When It comes time for Dessert, I heat the brownies back up, top it with Breyer's Vanilla Ice Cream and Breyer's Hot Chocolate Topping! It's a cool, yet warm, mix of heaven in a bowl!!!!! Everyone loves it! Another Recipe I do for the Holidays #MySweetHolidays, I make a pecan pie from scratch, When it's completely cooled, we Warm up a slice, place Breyer's Vanilla Ice Cream on top and Breyer's Caramel Ice Cream Topping! So mouth watering good! Thanks again for your recipe on Apple Pie a la mode! I do have some apples in the fridge, and you made me so hungry for apple pie! I just may have to make one! Apple Pie, my husband's year 'round favorite ~ especially served "a la mode!" Squeezing caramel sauce or syrup is a brilliant final touch ~ but I'm unfamiliar with Breyer's Caramel Ice Cream Sauce or pouches. I don't think I've ever seen them anywhere in the market. I've seen other brands, but only in jars and plastic squeeze bottles. What section might they be in?

I have a great Cheddar-Apple Pie recipe (with Cheddar cheese in the crust as well as the filling) ~ but let's face it - nothing beats the combo / pairing of apples and caramel!

This sounds good. Granny Smith apples are the only apples to bake a pie with. I love the caramel sauce over top.

NOTHING tastes better than an (easy) homemade apple pie! Breyer's vanilla bean ice cream is the best too! Perfect pairing!

That looks so good. I like cool whip best on mine though.
