It's pretty clear that we love Step2 products here at Viva Veltoro. They have some of our favorite toys on the market, and their kitchen sets are a HUGE hit with all kids. Along with their classic plastic kitchens, Step2 just rolled out a line with new wooden kitchens! We are SO excited about these new kitchens and we've partnered with Step2 to give you a look at the Grand Walk-In Wood Kitchen for kids.
No matter how many toys come to our house, one thing that the kids always gravitate towards is a play kitchen. This is also true when we visit other places like the library, children's museum, and friends' houses. Somehow they always end up playing with the toy kitchen, creating pretend culinary masterpieces to share. When I heard Step2 was expanding their kitchen set line with wooden kitchens, I knew my kids would be over the moon!
Grand Walk-In Wood Kitchen for Kids
First, let's talk about delivery and assembly. The Grand Walk-In Wood Kitchen came in two rectangular cardboard boxes (with the name of the product written on the box; just in case you're ordering it as a surprise).
I was surprised to see how that the boxes were relatively compact compared to how large I imagined the kitchen would be, but that is because the boxes are expertly packed to include over 100 pieces of wood and several accessories and assembly parts. The instructions state that assembly should take between 4-6 hours. I believe that's probably accurate if two people are assembling the kitchen. I decided to tackle this project myself since my husband's schedule is hectic and I like to see if single parents or caregivers could get this done themselves. I probably spent a total of 9 (somewhat interrupted by children) hours assembling the Grand Walk-In Wood Kitchen. It wasn't difficult and I'm not particularly handy with tools, but it is a bit time-consuming. All this to say, don't think you can wait until 10 PM on Christmas Eve to put this baby together.
BUT, the end result is so fantastic! There are so many features in the Grand Walk-In Wood Kitchen that make it stand out, I don't even know where to begin! One of my favorite features is the size. Sure, it takes up some space, but that allows multiple children to play in and around it at the same time. Any toy that will allow my kids to play cooperatively rather than competitively is worth the space it takes up!
Since this kitchen is crafted from wood it feels very sturdy and I know it will last a long time, but you always want to be as safe as possible. That's why I love that Step2 has included wall mounts so you can affix the kitchen to the wall to prevent tipping accidents. There are two tether points for this kitchen.
The colors of this Step2 kitchen are so modern, it makes me want to give my own kitchen a color boost! We're in the process of building a house and I know this kitchen is going to fit in with our style and decor.
The faucet is adorable, and the on-trend goose-neck design gives kids the room to wash dishes after cooking up a feast. There is counter space around the sink as well, which is great for preparing their little meals.
The modern 'glass' stove burners really light up and make this kitchen set just that much more fun. This is just the right amount of electronic features for me. Not too much (and no noise!), but just enough to add another element of pretend play.
There are several nooks throughout the kitchen to food, dishes, pots and pans, books, and anything else their little hearts desire.
The over-sized oven is a great addition to the Step2 Grand Walk-In Wood Kitchen. Plus, with a peek-through window allows kids to watch their food 'bake.' The Step2 Grand Walk-In Wood Kitchen comes with a 16-piece accessories set (2 plates, 2 bowls, 2 forks, 2 spoons, 2 knives, a coffeepot, a frying pan, and 4 cooking utensils). I think for a kitchen this size, you're probably going to want to add a few more accessories like play food or more pots and pans. Step2 has a great selection of those things, like their Cooking Essentials 10-pieces Stainless Steel Set and their Play Food Assortment.
One of my favorite features is this modern fridge with a see-through door. This piece is completely detached from the main U-shaped kitchen so kids can move it around if they'd like, or you can pick a place for it and mount it to the wall. Our kids love discussing what foods you keep in the fridge and freezer and it also gives the kitchen set more storage.
Speaking of storage, the Grand Walk-In Wood Kitchen has plenty! With loads of cupboard space and little shelves, your kids will have for anything and everything they want to store or display.
The wood design allows for more storage space on the outside of the kitchen as well. I'm telling you, there is SO much room for little ones to play.
The peek-through breakfast bar is the perfect setting for interactive play between kids, plus it's got fun hanging storage for all those utensils.
My son loves to surprise his little sister from the back side of the breakfast bar. It is just so fun to watch them play.
Another thing I really like about this kitchen is the U-shape design that allows the kids to move around really explore the space. Our previous kitchen was one long unit that was pushed up against the wall. My kids could play with each other, but only standing right next to one another. With the Step2 Grand Walk-In Wood Kitchen there is so much more space and surfaces for them to play.
Being wood, you'd think the kitchen would be really heavy, but Step2 has kept it under 30 pounds. With the sleek design and stylish colors, this kitchen set will be the hit of your household. I know it is in mine! The holidays are just around the corner, and this would make a fantastic gift for kids ages three and up in your family because it really is the best play kitchen for kids.

I thought nothing could beat the other hard plastic Step 2 Kitchens, but I was wrong! These Step2 wooden kitchen sets are sturdy and have a lot of cabinet and shelf space - just what a kitchen should have! The sink, oven, refrigerator, microwave, towel rack, everything adds up to be one heck of a girl’s dream kitchen! I even see a drawer for silverware! Pretty impressive!! Step2 has really outdone themselves and I want to THANK them!! This Kitchen Set can be passed on to other members of the family or friends.

This kitchen is awesome! My daughter has a play kitchen but it doesn't have much storage space and I am forever trying to find the best way to store the accessories she has so that she can get them when she wants them, but I'm not walking around/over them all the time. This looks like it might solve that problem!

I appreciate the wall mount my kids are disaster makers so this feature puts me at ease. I also like the see through panels for the fridge and oven so they can see what they are doing inside.
Heather Lovern says
My personal favorite feature would honestly be the wall mounts. That may seem odd considering this kitchen has a fantastic stove, faucet, refrigerator, etc, but, I am always concerned with things "tipping over" as we have children who visit that love to try to climb on everything possible which in turn causes my anxiety to go off the charts so those wall mounts will literally take a huge weight off of my shoulders. My son however, would go completely crazy over the refrigerator because at the moment he is going through a "refrigerator phrase" which involves leaving the door open so he can organize items for hours at a time if we allowed him to. This would definitely be a HUGE hit in our home, I would have a difficult time not playing with this kitchen myself!
