Nothing says "Happy Valentine's Day" like a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates! I could get chocolates for Valentine's Day every year for the rest of my life and never complain. Especially chocolates from See's Candies! I'm becoming such a See's frequenter that I could probably identify most of their chocolates from the box and I find myself recommending favorites to my friends and family. Actually, I'm really excited to do just that since we received a box at no cost to facilitate this review and I'm going to have so many friends and family over to enjoy it!
See's Candies has been in the business of making fine candy for over 90 years now, and always from the foundation that Mary See set with her original recipes and finest, freshest ingredients. What started out as a single candy shop in California is now a flourishing online store with over 200 shops in the U.S. and you can bet that Valentine's is one of their favorite holidays! They have almost 50 items exclusive to Valentine's Day, including their heart-shaped boxes of chocolates, one of which I was treated with! This is the Elegant Heart, which contains 3 lb. 1 oz. of all the best things.
See's Candies Review
You've got exquisite truffles, heart-shaped Strawberry Truffles, and all the best milk, dark, and white varieties. Do you feel a sugar coma coming on? I always love the variety in See's Candies boxes. They've chosen the best fillers and the best nuts to fill their boxes, and everyone always seems so pleased with whatever they just put in their mouth.
One of the specialties unique to the Elegant Heart box is this Strawberry Truffle. Delicious! Sweet and fruity, with the classic crunch and consistency of See's white chocolate. There really isn't a See's chocolate I don't like, and there are certainly a few that I am always drawn to! Namely, the Peanut Butter Patties, the Almond Buds, and ALL of the truffles. The first thing I do with a box of See's is hunt down the Scotchmallows (below), which are a perfect combination of caramel, marshmallow, and dark chocolate.
Because of the arrival of our baby (hopefully next week!), we're anticipating a few visitors and house guests over the next few weeks, so I knew I would have some help eating over three pounds of chocolates! It'll be so fun to be able to pull out this box every time we sit down at the end of a crazy day and pass around this enormous heart of treasures. No one can be unhappy with an array of beautiful chocolates in front of them 🙂
Speaking of people getting together, See's also has a fun collection of Game Day treats! These not only look like team spirit on the snack table, but they are great for sharing. In addition to the heart box, I was also able to sample a Rocky Road Football!
This is a handmade monster of a chocolate, meant to be shared among about six people. It is made of honey marshmallow and English walnuts, and coated in creamy milk chocolate. Despite being expertly delivered among packing peanuts, a few of the frosting laces had crumbed upon arrival, and it seems to be missing a long stripe, but that clearly didn't deter from the taste.
Its like Rocky Road ice cream in a king-size candy bar form. We ate this in honor of Ohio State!! Home state pride!! If you want to get your hands of these Game Day treats, get a move on because they are only around for one more week! They will be unavailable after Jan. 30th.
If you're hunting for Valentine's gifts, or its just going to be one of those years where you are not in the mood to be dramatic or creative with time-intensive gifts for your sweetheart, take my advice, save yourself a lot of time and energy, and order your sweetie a box of something delicious from See's!
