Rounding up the best travel snacks is one thing, but packing them up in a way that is fun for kids, easy for Mom, and the least amount of mess possible is another! We're so excited to show you some of our favorite snacks and we've partnered with Concord Fresh Success freeze dried veggie snacks to show you our favorite way to travel with them!
My family loves a good road trip! I feel like every time we pack up and roll out to some new vacation spot, we get a little smarter about how we choose and pack the travel snacks. I learned real quick that a car load of junk food makes us all feel a little crummy, but only bringing along raw vegetables isn't much fun either. Below are our top choices for travel snacks!
- fruit cups (don't forget plastic spoons!)
- sandwich cookies
- mini shredded wheat cereal
- Concord Fresh Success freeze dried sliced beets
- graham crackers
- baby carrots
- saltine crackers
- sliced apples
- popcorn
- chocolate rice cakes
- grapes
- fruit snacks
- Concord Fresh Success freeze dried corn and roasted red bell pepper
- Concord Fresh Success freeze dried sugar snap peas
- pretzel braids
- strawberries
- cheese sticks
- goldfish crackers
- marshmallows
- butter crackers
- raisins
- clementines
What are these intriguing freeze dried veggie snacks?! I'm glad you asked! They're Concord Fresh Success Veggie Snacks and they're our new favorite thing to munch on.
I've been a huge fan of freeze dried foods for several years now. Their shelf life is remarkable, the they are tasty as snacks, easy to re-hydrate if you prefer, and delicious in recipes. Another beautiful thing is that these are made with 100% vegetables. No artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives, which is amazing for how much flavor and color is packed into these pouches.
My kids' favorite is the sugar snap peas with sea salt and pepper. They are crunchy like veggie sticks, salted just right, and when you can pop them into your mouth like fries, it's hard to stop.
The corn and roasted red bell pepper snacks have this great smoky flavor. I was looking at the labels for what kind of spices were included, but really there are only 4 ingredients: corn, red pepper, sunflower oil, and sea salt. I also love the ever-so-slightly grilled look. The corn kernels look like they would be tooth-crunching, but they are crunchy soft! All of these vegetables are not actually baked or fried at all, but dried to retain most of the healthy nutrients.
MY favorite are the beets with balsamic vinegar! The have a bite like tortilla chips and the balsamic vinegar and sea salt are the perfect seasonings to keep these high in flavor without preservatives. Plus, the entire bag is only 80 calories!
On road trips past, I have been the keeper of the travel snacks. Request after request, I would get car sick from reaching back to pass out food every five minutes. This summer, I finally got smart about it and rounded up a handful of fanny packs for everyone! Best idea ever. Understand that this doesn't work well for little kids who can't open plastic bags or appropriately ration their food, but for school-age kids, I think it is fantastic. My kids fill their pouches with a few of their favorites and they know that what they have in front of them is to last them the entire trip, so they can eat when they're hungry and spread it out among a few hours.
Their pouches are always accessible and they can even store their trash inside when they're done. No one is endlessly asking for snacks so I can enjoy a little relaxation on the drive as well! We all thought the fanny pack food kits were such a hit that we can't wait to load up for another family trip again soon!
Enjoy putting together your own travel snacks food kits for your next summer vacation! Don't forget to include Concord Fresh Success freeze dried veggie snacks!
Before you head out on the open road, check out these delicious smoothie bowls we made using Fresh Success mixes. The Cherry, Dragon Fruit and Berry Smoothie Bowl was a bit hit with the kids and I love the Banana, Lime, and Mango Smoothie Bowl. They're sure to fill you up before you go!
