    toddler scavenger hunt

As the seasons change, so do our daily activities here in Arizona. From about May through September, you can bet your bottom dollar we are chained to anything that involves an air conditioner. Now that summer and fall have dwindled away, Mama and son are quite ecstatic that we can resume our "normal" outdoor activities; one of those activities being our daily evening walks.

As a child, I can remember spending every waking hour outdoors in Southern California. And as my son is growing up, its pretty special to witness his love for the outdoors. I am always on the hunt for a great toy that we can utilize outdoors. Today, I get to share with you a super cute Step2 Push Around Buddy that my son just adores and how we're using it to learn about our surroundings.

    Step2 Push Around Buddy

The first thing I noticed about Step2 Push Around Buddy was how well it was made. It was sturdy, felt secure and safe. The materials used also allowed it to be easily cleaned with the swipe of a damp cloth (perfect for our desert dust that likes to accumulate!)

    Step2 Push Around Buddy

One of our son's favorite things to do with our Step2 Push Around Buddy is to go on our evening walks when the sun is just about getting ready to set. It's easy to push for us adults; the height of handle is just perfect. And little mans favorite thing to do? Honk the horn of course... And stop for a quick water break...

    Step2 Push Around Buddy

    Step2 Push Around Buddy

    I'm Going Outside
    (sung to Twinkle, Twinkle)

    I'm going outside, yessiree!
And play some game; won't you come with me?
We'll build a fort out of a box,
Hunt a lion and a fox
    I'm going outside, yessiree!
And play some games; won't you come with me?

Next we'll turn the sprinkler on,
And get all wet out on the lawn.
Squirt each other with the hose,
Make some mud just for our toes.
    I'm going outside, yessiree!
And play some games; won't you come with me?

When the sun starts to go down
    We'll catch fireflies all around!
Then let them go into the night,
    Flying with their flickering light.
    I'm going outside, yessiree!
And play some games; won't you come with me?

    Step2 Push Around Buddy

And how could I forget... The buckles! The Step2 Push Around Buddy comes with buckles for safety.
Little man likes to practice his buckling skills when he's not riding his toy!

    Step2 Push Around Buddy

Our walks are so much fun with the Step2 Push Around Buddy. Our son is quite content scoping out all there is to see on our walk, honking the horn, taking some water breaks and even takes it upon himself to try to push the toy when he is not riding it. It's easy to put together and easy to use too!

    Step2 Push Around Buddy

While we were out walking, I thought how important these walks are getting as he grows older. He is recognizing more things now and it is my job as his Mama to foster good learning habits in normal daily activities. I have to remind myself to speak into his little world and do so at every opportunity. I have started to point out different things during our walk and repeat specific words to help expand his speech. I thought it would be a great idea if I had a little handy sheet to help me not only remember to do this during our walks but also remember all the normal things I am so used to seeing, but he isn't at the ripe age of 2 years old. So, I have attached a little printable for you all to take on your next evening walk! Let this be a starting point; feel free to add things, remove things as you go. Bring a pen with you and jot down some things your toddler took notice of so that you can mention them again during your next walk! As your child gets older, hand them the sheet and make this into a fun toddler scavenger hunt!
