I was sent the King-Size Steak and Burgers Assortment (at no cost to facilitate this review):
This package of fine meats arrived to my door packaged in a heavy duty styrofoam cooler and surrounded with dry ice. My box of steaks and burgers was in perfect condition and kept perfectly frozen. Shipping time was super fast and I had my order within just a few days. According to The Tender Filet, once your items arrive you should transfer them to your freezer until you're ready to prepare them.
This $194 assortment includes:
- (2) 8 ounce Filets Mignons
- (2) 12 ounce Center Cut New York Strip Steaks
- (2) 16 ounce Porterhouse Steaks
- (6) 6 ounce Sirloin Burgers
- (1) 2-oz. Garlic Butter
These steaks and burgers looked beautiful! When I was growing up, my dad frequented our local butcher and I can definitely appreciate the beauty in a nicely trimmed cut of steak. I couldn't wait to see what my husband wanted to grill up first!
I might have guessed that he'd choose the Center Cut New York Strip Steaks. The marbling was perfect and color was lovely, even while frozen. I took these steaks out of the freezer the morning and let them thaw in preparation for that night's dinner.
If you're like me and don't have any grilling experience, or don't have a lot of know-how in the kitchen, The Tender Filet can assist you in this department. Included with your order is a really handy guide that includes information about the cuts of meat included in your order (and other cuts as well) and how to prepare to them. It also includes a lot of great recipes and coupons for future purchases. I plan on keeping this guide with my cookbooks from now on. It's so helpful to have a quick reference right at my fingertips.
My hubby didn't need any tips or tricks to get these steaks cooked up! He simply marinated them in a bit of extra virgin olive oil, Montreal Steak Seasoning, and salt & pepper, then put them right on the grill. I prefer my steaks medium rare and my husband is more of a medium-well type of guy and he cooked these to perfection. I really wanted to cut right into mine, but I dutifully let it rest for a few minutes.
Just as I expected, the steak was delicious. It was tender and it tasted so good! We sautéed some sweet onion to top it off and served it with baked potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, and salad. Of course, we also paired it with a glass of red wine for good measure. It was a wonderful meal and definitely restaurant quality!
Overall, we've had a wonderful experience with The Tender Filet thus far. Our order was delivered quickly and perfectly packaged. The quality and taste of the steak we've sampled so far was fantastic. We're planning on grilling up the burgers this week and saving the filets for Easter dinner.
