Step2 Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop Review

Step2 The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop

As a Step2 Ambassador, I was sent this item at no cost to facilitate this review.

Over the summer, I had the chance to visit The Step2 Company's headquarters in Ohio. As one of their brand ambassadors, I got an inside look at how the toys are made (right here in the USA!), and I even got to meet with the product development team to see some of their newest products. When I laid eyes on The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop I knew my toddler would have an absolute blast playing with it. I got to test out some of the very cool features in Ohio, so when it came time to choosing the toys for our holiday gift guide, I knew that this workshop should be included. I'm pretty sure that almost any child would love it!

Step2 The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop

The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop is a Toys "R" Us exclusive, meaning you'll only be able to buy it at Toys "R" Us stores or on their website. If you order it, it will arrive to your doorstep in the box shown above (just a heads up, in case you'd like to send it to a relative or friend's home as to not spoil the surprise if this will be a holiday gift for your child). The workshop does require adult assembly, but all you'll need is a screwdriver (a drill would actually be preferable, but a screwdriver works just fine). It took my mom and me about 25 minutes to get everything assembled and all the decals put on.

The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop by Step2

This workshop measures 34 inches high by 38.50 inches wide x 27.50 inches deep and is really perfectly size for 1-2 children to play with. It's PACKED with fun features and my mom kept mentioning how incredible adorable and realistic the included tools are. There are 45 pieces to the accessory set that comes with this workshop so it will hold your child's attention for quite some time.

Step2 The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop

As you can see, there's a large work surface with all sorts of cool features for your little guy or girl to work with. There's a working vice to keep their project stable, there's a table saw that compresses so they can fee like they're working with the real thing, a built in tray will hold all their messes and makes clean up easier, and there's even fun cutouts to house their screws so they can drill like the pros. On the back surface are multiple storage bins to house all of their accessories, and a peg board for tool storage. There's also an awesome working LED shop light (requires 3 "AAA" batteries - not included).

The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop by Step2

You might have noticed that multi-colored bird house on the workbench surface. Let me show you how COOL it is! The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop comes with this amazing color changing project for your child to built and "paint". With just a quick squirt of water from the included water bottle, or with a quick swipe of the included paint brushes or roller, you child can change the color of the bird house from white to blue. When it dries, it will turn white again so they can do it all over. I knew this would be a hit with my toddler.

The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop by Step2

The other feature that I knew my little guy would go nuts for is the electronic drill. This battery operated drill is fantastic! It comes with 2 bits and goes both clockwise and counter-clockwise so your child can screw, then unscrew their accessories until their heart is content. The drill requires four "AA" batteries (not included) so don't forget to pick up a pack, along with the "AAA"s for the light! I'll also mention that my toddler leaves the lights on ALL the time and they've yet to burn out. In fact, he also leaves the lights on his Step2 2-in-1 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor as well, and those have yet to burn out, so you won't have to replace them that often.

The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop by Step2

The base of the workshop also has some fun features like storage compartment, and storage spaces for their extra tools and paint bucket and roller pan. I love how wide and sturdy the base is so I don't have to worry about the top being too heavy and falling over.

I really wanted to wait until Christmas to present this awesome workshop to the Wubba, but I just couldn't take it! I let him start playing with it as soon as he woke up from his nap on the afternoon we put it together.

Step2 The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop

He wasted no time exploring his new workshop. Just as I thought, the drill was a HUGE hit! He could screw and unscrew those plastic screws all day. He also loved the bird house. Of course, he also spritzed the entire workshop and everything within a 3 foot radius, but he had a really fun time doing it!

Step2 The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop

Overall, we're super happy with The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop from Step2. My little guy has been playing with it consistently over the past several weeks and the realistic power tools (just like daddy's) are keeping him busy with creative play for long stretches of time. This workshop is recommended for ages 3 and up, but my 2.5 year old adores it and I foresee him using it for years to come.

Connect: You can connect with Step2 on Facebook and follow them on Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube. You'll also want to make sure to sign up for their Birthday Club where you'll get great coupons before your child's birthday plus other special offers and deals!

Buy it: You can purchaseThe Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop by Step2 on the Toys "R" Us website for $119.99.

Win it: One lucky person will win The Home Depot Big Builders Pro Workshop from Step2!

My son (2) is always "fixing " things. He would love this. We have the home Depot tool kit.. and the drill only worked for a month though, before the "abuse" of a Lil guy wore it out. Sadly, he keeps asking Daddy to fix it.. but it just won't work anymore ;/- yes we changed the batteries. . Lol

I have twin granddaughters and this would be great for them. My father taught me all sorts of handyman stuff.I have had to put a new ignition in my car, fix my furnace and many other tasks. I myself ended up being a single mom of two boys and I have taught them what I know. I do not think toys are gender specific anymore and thanks for the opportunity.

Love the Create and Play Kitchen (in neutral). Nice to see this stuff in colors other than stereotypical pink and blue. My little girls love playing with tools, and my boys cook.

My grandson (age 3) has Nystagmus. His vision is very limited and he cannot see in sunlight without sunglasses, but he loves helping his daddy fix things.
