I don't know about your kids, but mine LOVE to be outside. It's so nice to play in our yard with the Step2 Happy Home Cottage & Grill. This cottage has made our outdoor playtime so much more fun! Check out my full review and enter to win one for your little ones!
Our three-year-old loves to play 'house' so when I had the chance to review this cottage for the Step2 Ambassador Program I couldn't have been more excited to share it with her! It arrived in a giant box and our daughter immediately wanted to open it and set it up when she found out what it was.
Assembly was really simple. I used a Phillips-head screwdriver to secure each piece but a power drill would have made the job a little faster and easier. It also would have been easier without the kiddos but we were so excited to put it together that we couldn't wait for my husband to get home! As soon as we had the Cottage & Grill assembled my daughter was inside talking on the play phone that came with it. I swear she's three going on thirteen! She loves the kitchen seat and it's the perfect size for her.
The grill part of this playhouse is SO cute. I love that it's outside the house with a pass-through window to encourage pretend play.
We'll need to add to our playhouse with some Step2 dishes and food. In the meantime my daughter has cooked up many meals with her brother's snacks, HA!
The Happy Home Cottage & Grill is for 18+ months but even our eight month old enjoyed pulling himself up and peeking out the windows and open walls. It's great that I can do work around the yard and still keep an eye on him while he's in the playhouse. I also love that the cottage has a floor because I don't have to worry about him picking up grass or leaves and eating them. There are holes drilled in the floor for drainage so we don't have to worry about it filling up when it rains.
The pink shutters and door both swing open and closed. Our kids both love peeking through the windows!
There are fun details like fireplace and clock stickers that add to the homey feeling of this cottage. We'll need to buy some flowers for the cute built-in planter! My daughter thinks the working doorbell is just awesome. If someone forgets to press the it when they come to visit her cottage she says "you need to ding the doorbell first!" You do need two AAA batteries for the doorbell which aren't included.
The mail-slot is also an a really fun feature. I haven't met a kid yet who doesn't like to send or receive mail and my daughter is no exception!
This little cottage is the perfect addition to our yard and it has gotten so much use already. I can't wait to watch our daughter play more with friends and her little brother as he gets bigger. It is a fairly small playhouse but it's the perfect size for our kids right now!
