If you notice that your laundry still smells bad after washing, there is something you can do. I've got a few tips to help you remove odor from smelly clothes, especially workout gear.
I work out at least 6 days a week, and sometimes I do a few different activities a day. To say that I wear a lot of activewear would be an understatement. Even though I have a large rotation of workout clothes, I still notice that certain pieces tend to smell a little sour from time to time. I tried a few things to get rid of the odors but they always seemed to come back. I did a lot of troubleshooting and came up with some tips to help you remove odors from your clothing and other laundry items.
Tips to help remove odors from smelly clothes
1.) Wash your washing machine. Did you know that you need to wash your washing machine from time to time? Use white vinegar or a washing machine cleansing agent to take care of it. Be sure to also clean around the seals to find hidden bacteria and mold.
2.) Don't leave your sweaty or dirty workout clothes in a heap. I always try to drape my damp activewear or towels over the side of the hamper instead of balling them up inside and leaving them for days. Giving them a chance to air out helps prevent bacteria from growing.
3.) Transfer your clothing from the washer to the dryer promptly. Don't leave your washed laundry sitting in the washing machine for hours (or overnight!). Switch it as soon as possible so it doesn't have a chance to start getting musty.
4.) Use a fabric sanitizer. I just started using Clorox Bleach-Free Fabric Sanitizer & Stain Remover and I have been so pleased with how well it's worked. I know when you think of Clorox, you might think bleach, but this new laundry additive is a bleach-free laundry sanitizer that's safe to use on most washable colored items. You can use it on your stinkier loads of laundry or when you've got a little laundry emergency that needs a little more attention to remove odors and bacteria that regular detergent might leave behind.
I found the new Clorox Fabric Sanitizer right at my local Walmart next to the bleach products. You can even order it with your Walmart Grocery pickup. I picked up the spray and immediately noticed the information about the SMART TUBE Technology that helps you get every last drop of solution out of the bottle. That means zero waste and more value for you.
I love that this sanitizer is bleach-free and specially formulated to kill 99.9% of odor-causing bacteria. That means I can use it on most of my laundry, even my most colorful activewear. Clorox is a brand I've used for years and always trust to keep my clothing and home as clean as possible.
You just simply spray the affected area until completely covered and let it sit for 3 minutes. Then, wash with your favorite detergent as usual and you're good to go. The easy-to-use trigger has such a smooth pull and it makes it so easy to sanitize your laundry with better control and coverage.
This Clorox Bleach-Free Fabric Sanitizer has worked wonders in eliminating tough odors that have been plaguing some of my favorite workout wear. Now, I feel confident that my clothing will smell great, even after those tough workouts.
Are you ready to sanitize your laundry and wear your favorite items without fear of odors? Head to Walmart to pick up Clorox Bleach-Free Fabric Sanitizer & Stain Remover and give it a try.
