If you love your community gardens and local farms, you're going to love this new initiative from Pure Farmland™. They just launched the Pure Growth Project to nurture those green spaces in our communities. Find out more below and learn how you can apply for one of their grants!
Buying local fruits and vegetables is something I try to do as often as possible. For one, the food is often fresher since it's allowed to ripen naturally and doesn't have to travel hundreds or thousands of miles to arrive at our table. Also, supporting our community farmers helps support our local economy and preserve the green spaces that we love so much. Pure Farmland, a maker of high-quality, plant-based protein products, also knows how important it is to protect American's green spaces and that's why they launched the Pure Growth Project.
The Pure Growth Project is a new initiative and grant program that aims to support community gardens in neighborhoods all over the United States. It builds on the brand's longstanding commitment to protect vital American farmland. With the Pure Growth Project, Pure Farmland is hoping to increase the availability of locally grown fruits and vegetables nationwide. A plant-based brand doubling down on encouraging the growth and consumption of fresh fruits and veggies? It's a no-brainer and makes so much sense.
Over the past few months, with more and more of us staying home, dozens of my friends have planted gardens of their own or started helping maintain their community gardens. These spaces are bringing people together and creating wholesome foods for locals. Pure Farmland has seen what these green spaces are doing for communities and they want to help them grow. "The Pure Growth Project is about more than just food – it’s about strengthening the fabric that links us and makes our cities and neighborhoods unique,” said Erin Thacker, MA, RDN, brand manager for Pure Farmland. They're ready to support these spaces, especially in urban areas, with the Pure Growth Project.
Through the Pure Growth Project, Pure Farmland will be providing $100,000 in financial support via grants, to eligible nonprofit organizations and food projects. The grants will range from $1,000 to $20,000 each and organizations can apply through July 31, 2020 (subject to terms and conditions). To submit an application for the Pure Growth Project or to learn more about eligibility, guidelines, and the selection process, visit pure-farmland.com/impact/.
In addition, every time you purchase a Pure Farmland product, the brand is going to donate the cost of protecting one square foot of farmland through its ongoing partnership with the American Farmland Trust. So, you get a delicious plant-based, meatless meal for your family and you're helping to protect farmland and ranchland. It's a win-win!
