This Joovy Chair is Off the Hook! A Review of the Joovy Hook!

    Joovy Hook

Joovy has an incredible flair for style and I've always been a fan of their color palettes and the materials they use. A few months month at The Biggest Baby Shower held in Miami, Florida, I got to spend some time at the Joovy booth and check out their awesome line of products. From strollers to bottles to high chairs, Joovy has it at. While I was perusing their gorgeous products my eyes were immediately drawn to the hook-on chair that was on display. Being a Joovy Mom definitely has perks and I was able to take home the Joovy Hook (at no cost in cost to facilitate this review).

I was pleasantly surprised when Pam, the lovely lady behind the scenes at Joovy, packed up the Hook for me to take home. It comes completely assembled and folds up to fit snugly inside a super convenient 600D zippered travel bag with an adjustable shoulder strap. You can see that I received the color "Greenie" and I absolutely adore it!

    Joovy Hook

The Joovy Hook requires no assembly or disassembly. All you have to do is push a few buttons and unfold the arms. You can see in the photos below that the Hook folds up into one compact little package. When folded and in it's carrying case, the Hook measures 15.25" x 13" x 5"  and weighs just 5 pounds.

    Joovy Hook

The Hook's seat is made from deluxe leatherette fabric and truly looks and feels high-end. I really love the fabric choice here. It's super easy to clean and you can just use a damp cloth to wipe up most messes. The seat also feels very comfy thanks to a bit of padding added by Joovy. I LOVE the high back to this chair! That is one thing I've always disliked about restaurant high-chairs - there is absolutely no back support to most of them. The Joovy Hook provides a nice, supportive place for your little one to sit and enjoy a meal. Plus, they'll feel like they're really part of the family by being as close to the action as possible. In the photos below I've propped up the back of the seat by using a box to support the frame in the back so you could see how this seat would look when hooked onto a table. You can see that the seat also features a great 3 point harness for safety.

    Joovy Hook

The Hook features an anodized aluminum frame that not only looks super sharp, it’s both lightweight and strong. The patented folding mechanism utilizes die-cast aluminum components to support a child up to 37 pounds. To attach the Hook to your table, you'll just ensure that the arms are fully extended and that the turning knobs (used to "fasten" the Hook to the table) are horizontal, then angle the chair and position it on the table so that the short arms (with the non-slip rubber grip pads) are on top of the table. Push the chair all the way in so that it can't go any further, then rotate the turning knobs vertically and turn them counterclockwise until the tension is tight underneath the table.

    Joovy Hook

Once the chair is tightly in position, check it to be sure there is no gap between the short arms and the table top and that you can't move the chair sideways or front to back. Then you're ready for your little one to sit and enjoy their meal!

Now there are a few things you need to keep in mind about the Joovy Hook. It's only for use with tables 1 to 2 inches thick. You should also check underneath your table to ensure that it's not skirted underneath (meaning there are wooden supports underneath that may prevent the Hook from being properly mounted). Both my mom's kitchen table and dining room table are skirted underneath and this can interfere with mounting the Hook onto the table. You should also not use the hook on glass tables, single pedestal tables, a table leaf, or with table cloths or placements. For us, this seat is ideal for use in restaurants. Most of the tables are compatible, it's compact, and it's MUCH cleaner than the restaurant provided chairs.

    Joovy Hook

You can see in these photos that my little guy is cozy and enjoying his time in the Hook. The 10.5" inch deep seat provides a lot of comfort and security and the wubba has plenty of room for growth. He's currently almost 21 months, 29 pounds, and 34 inches tall. I think his absolute favorite thing is having the ability to swing his feet with abandon! He's not able to do this with any wooden framed restaurant high chairs or boosters and he loves it.

Overall, this hook-on high chair looks ultra high-end and is super easy to wipe clean. It's compact, easy to use, and the price point is great at only $69.99 (especially if you're substituting this for a traditional high chair in your home - just make sure your table is compatible). I'd definitely recommend the Joovy Hook to parents and caregivers!

Buy it: You can purchase the Joovy Hook on their website for $69.99. You can also purchase the Joovy Hook on Amazon. It's available in Greenie, Orangie, and Black.

Disclosure:  I am a Joovy Mom brand ambassador. I received the Joovy Hook at no cost in order to facilitate this review. All opinions expressed are my own and may differ from yours. Amazon links are affiliate links.

Love this! I will absolutely give this as a gift at the next baby shower. It looks so well made, love the colors and is just unbelievably convenient! (Wish I had it when mine were babes) Thanks for sharing this review. I would have never thought of this as a gift otherwise!

This is a great substitute for a highchair , especially when visiting relatives. It looks so compact and easy to use.

I can see using this in a crowded restaurant where you're at risk for tripping over chair legs trying to maneuver around. This is a really cool idea!

I love this, its the first time I am seeing this chair and I have been looking for something like this because high chairs just seem a bit more money for me, and I love the fact that I will be able to take this with me where ever I go to eat..
